Re: Sept. 16th DEVIATED INSTINCT @ LITTLE FERNWOOD
I just woke up. The pinky on my right hand is definitely sprained at the knuckle. I have a knot the size of Rhode Island on the side of my head where I punched myself with the microphone. My chest and ribs are sore and bruised. I have bruises in the middle of my thighs from being pushed against the stage during Six Brew Bantha's set. I'm hungover.
Totally worth it.
I'll sit down and type up a more comprehensive review later.

Re: Sept. 16th DEVIATED INSTINCT @ LITTLE FERNWOOD
sorry to the Eul, tambo and i got caught up at leo and mieke's and thought we had more time
got to catch Shibboleth though. intense band, first time ive seen them with julian on bass and that other guy moving to guitar. i probably should have bought their cd or tape or whatever but aw well
six brew played the best crowd ive ever seen for them. ive been seeing them for like what... 2 years now? close to 3? and yea they always deal with the usual boring no fun crowds, or everyone drinking out side, but these guys have got their shit together and rip through sets and breakneck speed these days i think victoria is finally catching on. well done guys. i dived right over a group of people into a blank spot and smacked the ground on my back, good thing i was drunk or that wuold have hurt. well done.
i have seen iskra many a time, think theyre great but i just didnt care i talked outside and then eventually just left because i also didnt care about old men playing crust punk. i was in bed by 11pm.

Okay:
No Eulogy- these guys are dicks.
Shibboleth- Intense set. Mic's vocals continue to degrade in the most amazing ways. I think by the end of his life he's gonna be speaking through a tracheotomy hole and destroying microphones. Devon on second guitar was a solid choice. Matt plays drums like he's baking a cake.
Six Brew-Holy stage dives. Destructive set, and I think I got more beat up in those twenty minutes than the entirety of my high school career. Well done boys.
Iskra-RAGE. Both at the hellacious tunes and the fucking breaker for continually cutting off excellent songs.
Deviated Instinct- Fuck everyone who left early. These guys may have been old but holy shit did they deliver. They played like it was still 1985. I was a bit on the fence about these boys until last night. Insta-fan.
Overall, this is definitely in the running for "best show of the year".

how was the outcome of this? despite all the lousy crusties garbaging all night i saw a few people picking things up and a homeless gent was collecting cans too. didnt look that bad when iskra was starting but i left then. the noise wasnt that bad either, i lived in that square for about 4 months and that show was no louder than any other night really, theres always hippies being annoying there so a show wasnt really that different
little fern was fun, the stairs to the stage were a little awkward but overall it was good. hope its a possible option in the future sometime

Overall looked like things were good. Most people who weren't involved with the show were pretty friendly, accept for the Belfry crowd, but they're never friendly. Everyone else was pretty stoked on it.
As far as I know Wolf is gonna be able to grab it about once a month. The people who run it are pretty friendly from what I gather, but the place is around explicitly for theatre, so those types of projects get priority (which is pretty reasonable, in my opinion). But yeah. Dope venue.

Re: Sept. 16th DEVIATED INSTINCT @ LITTLE FERNWOOD
My review is pretty much same as Keith's, 'cept I didn't do no stage dives, and I left pretty much right after 6BB.
On the topic of the Bantha, I've honestly never really cared til last night. I told Tyler after the show how impressed I was to which he replied "yeah man, it's like we're a real band now". Also, I liked Tyler doing the in between songs banter. Super charismatic and never had that awkward "... tuning..." between songs feel. Kudos to you 3 for playin' some rockin' grindcore.
All in all, even though I only saw 2 bands, totally glad I went. Only 6 bucks and I really enjoyed the 2 bands I saw. Too bad carrying around a 60 lb backpack every day at school has already fucked my back. I LOVE TEXTOOKS!

I play bass. I play guitar. I do both poorly. What's up.
