it was 1995, in the fall -

Millencollin came to canada in support of a new album they put out, "life on a plate" - i love that album.

i was 17 - it was an all ages bar show.

i tried to use a fake ID i had, so i could drink [i loved to drink back then, and these were my prime drinking years]
it got rejected, but i convinced the door guy to let me in, he knew who i was, i was always at shows, and he cut me a break.

some friends of mine had a band called Headcramp and opened, they fuckin ruled hard and i still listen to their EP to this day.

i think some other band called X-large were on the bill, i thought they were ok, but fairly unbearable without booze, sooooooooooo - i drew my own stamp on my hand and procured alcohol from the bar, a few beers in, and my friendly door guy caught me with beer in hand, thus ending my happy go-lucky time att he millencollin show.

i got the boot and had to listen from outside the venue as they played an AMAZING set, culminating with Mr. Clean... i guess technically, i didnt miss this show, but i might as well have.

there are others i really wish i didnt miss.

PANTERA on their last tour together in winnipeg. i had a ticket [this was what, 1999 i think] but unfortunately where i worked, the cargo dept. of the local airport was full of metal heads, who also had tickets, and who happened to have the time booked off, when it came time for me to request time off, nobody was available to cover - thus forfeiting my chgance of ever seein pan-fucking-tera & remebering [i saw them at ozzfest 97 but i was so high on mushrooms and wasted out of my gourd that i can barely remember even being there.

Allegiance's last show. A lot of people thought this band was pretty "meh" but they were a big part of me getting really into hardcore/straight edge.

Count me as one of those people. Saw Allegiance at Champions last show, and the only part of their set I enjoyed was when they gave the mic to the guitar player from Ceremony and he just dove into the crowd with it.

I think it really had to do with the timing when I got into hardcore. Rivalry Records was on top and Allegiance was playing the North West a lot. I did get to see their last NW show (gia's final show I think). What a good night.

i smoke more weed than everyone on this board combined - i also listen to ALOT of straightedge music - i also happen to enjoy Allegiance's catalogue - does that make my opinion invalid?

also, Willa has actually found a few YC bands he's into, surprisingly

Ah, I wouldn't worry about it, I'm pretty sure Hunter was just joking.

there's a ton of shows i wish i could have gone to.

if i could narrow it down to a few occasions in the past few years, these would be the shows:

fucked up/cold world at fu weekend 06 (had a really wild drive the night before, going 30 behind a salt truck in scary weather, so thus didnt go the next day, even if i had tickets. it's always a treat to see these two bands together, and i feel like it's one of those things that won't happen much anymore)

cobra noir's last show (couldn't find anybody else to road trip with, and i didn't really want to drive 12 hours by myself)

xradical attackx's last show (same as above.)

gucci mane in detroit (friend got a dui.)

This thread is opening a real big can of worms.

some preliminary points:

-xbrainiax was boring as fuck and paint by numbers pv. lots of kids at that show though, i guess.
-chris is a nice kid. when i met him he wasn't into hardcore at all and had dyed black swoopy hair. hee hee.
-fuck yeah takaru x1000, seriously.
-saw the first PoP reunion show. i could say it's because i drove all day and night and went through the typical nightmare to make it there, but i'm pretty sure i almost fell asleep standing up while watching them. not sure if they were better or not in pomona.
-saw hot hot heat and three inches of blood in a coffee shop in langley when i was 15. a dude i used to kinda know just started playing guitar with them recently. lolz.
-that unbroken show in san diego that i assume is the one jordan is talking about was actually only like 20 people who weren't in bands. one of my best bros who i was staying with at the time is like bff's with one of the dudes who runs all the shows at the che, and he couldn't even get us in.
-allegiance was always a really big stinker. records are good for a goof off and a laugh, though.

Could think of a million things to post here as my contribution, but here's a little gold to make your spine tingle and your insides wretch with mixed emotions:
