Hey, I'm new in town and looking to join a band.
I just moved here from Vancouver. I'm 31 and a guy. I've been in lots of bands as guitarist, vocalist and bassist.
I'd prefer to do vocals for either a grind band or a filthy and nasty hardcore, crust or post metal type band. I do angry/ intense vocals quite well but don't sing for shit.
I have a PA and all that and can even contribute noise and samples and shit. Something in the ballpark of Pig Destroyer, Napalm Death, The Secret, Column of Heaven, Catharsis, Converge, Coalesce, Botch, Rituals, Rosetta... Heavy and nasty.
If you need a bassist I'd be way into doing something gritty and mean as well. Lots of distortion and all that... Old Man Gloom, Narrows, Neurosis, Hyatari... I'm pretty flexible but would rather keep it simple. I'd need a bass amp upgrade, but that's no big deal.
If you need a guitarist I'd prefer something a bit simpler, I'm a solid player but I'm a university student and don't have the spare time that it takes to practice virtuoso shit all day.
I'd actually kind of like to play some thing a bit more indie rockish or post rockish if I'm on guitar. Super heavy sludge/ doom/ post metal would also be rad. I'm a pedal addict and once again have gear ready to roll.
I'd rather not tour and my spare time is limited, but I'm dedicated and a decent musician.
I'm more interested in jamming on quality songs with quality dudes and quality gear than fitting any one specific genre.
If any of this interests you. PM me or something.

MY last band, Magnetic North, did a recording right before I left town. Its still being mastered but I'll post two tracks here.

I was on guitar and vocals for that.
Before that I was in Batoche (like five years ago) also on guitar and vocals http://www.myspace.com/batocheband. If you know the guys from Burning Ghats, this band was with them.
I played guitar for this band as well http://www.myspace.com/bornofashesband
The last band that I played bass for was Dirtbred. That was a long time ago http://www.myspace.com/officialdirtbred. I'm not on their record, but it might give you an idea.
As a vocalist I've got lots of experience but plenty of room for improvement which is why I'd like to try being just a vocalist in the next band I join. Playing guitar while hollering is somewhat limiting.

Did you play in Dirtbred from Regina? Before Roque?
The hardest kids still put an x on their name.
Re: Hey, I'm new in town and looking to join a band.
Yes, I was the first bassist in Dirtbred. Roque took over when I moved to Vancouver. Mark Wilson was still the drummer then.

Crazy! I did not know that! I was still in high school the first time I saw Dirtbred, which was probably 12 years ago.

Troy Bleich is still the best musician I've ever played with. Dude is awesome.

Someone should have Shawn in their band. He's an overall good dude and good at music. Born Of Ashes and Batoche were both great bands that put on a good show. I back this.

Start a band with Willa so he stops complaining he doesn't have a band.
