Fuck I respect everyones right to drink,do drugs everything. But you don't need to do it at a all ages show no matter the genre. Nuff said
Also, to add my two cents, I agree and disagree with this comment. If you enjoy drinking, and are of age, I see no reason why you shouldn't go ahead and have a few whether or not the show is all-ages. The question, for me at least, is adulthood. Are you adult enough to be allowed to drink? That is, will you drink in/near the venue? Will you get so losered you throw up/have to be carried out/break something/all of the above? Then fuck you, you don't get to drink. If you're adult, drink responsibly, don't do it near the venue, and are willing to take the heat if the cops catch you, then I am more than happy to not give a fuck. Personally, I really enjoy getting nicely buzzed before a show. It's not a necessity, and I can (and have/will) gone to shows and done nothing. But if it's an option I have, I'll generally take it. I try my best to go far enough away to not get the promoter in trouble (apparently failing miserably this time around. Ugh.) and know what my limit is and when to stop. That's really all any promoter can ask for.
Also, I don't think that SewnFlesh was defending drinking IN the venue or anything else that shuts down all agers, but rather that "hardcore" isn't necessarily one specific definition (i.e. straightedge, youth crew, Clevo, tough guy, or whatever you're into) but rather a large defining concept encompassing a wide range of people with differing opinions, politics, and beliefs. We can't simply say "YOU CAN'T DO THIS" because it's somewhat against a specific ethical concept. We can say "YOU CAN'T DO THIS" because it endangers our way of life, but if someone wants to go somewhere that won't bother anyone else and drink, they have that right, all ager or not.
Please add "in my opinion" to this entire rant.
