Kyle, what I was complaining about before was what I considered co-option of ethics, not how much a show cost. And I went to the show I complained about. And then put on a show for the same artist later on. In my mind that puts me in the "Put Up" category.
Most of the shows I put on were excellent and good times. I enjoyed them all. I only broke even on one. Ever. Which is fine, it's what's expected and I knew it would happen. When kids would thank me and the band would be stoked on Vic and want to come back, that's all I really wanted. Lately, even that doesn't seem to be happening. This past Fest was the breaking point for me. We announced the single best line up we've ever had, and half the comments were "WHY ISN'T XXX BAND PLAYING?!?" or "WHY IS IT THIS MUCH MONEY?!?" and then half of you came and acted like goddamn fools and almost lost us our security deposit on the WEH.
So yeah, I'm bitter, and angry, and fed up. So I'm not doing this anymore. I'm gonna let people who aren't bitter, or angry, or fed up do this, and make shows a positive thing that kids will enjoy. Troy, Ebony, Scott, Zach and Pauly do a better job than I ever could or will do. I hope they continue doing what they do. I've tendered my resignation from the VIHC board effective at the end of this month, and this past Fest was my last as a promoter. It's been a wild ride and 90% has been the best times of my life. The other 10%? Well, it is what it is.
To everyone who's made every show I've done fun, thank you. To everyone else: either start putting shows on or shut the fuck up.
