One time I went on a date with a girl who told me she believed in astrology and energy chrystals and shit. I told her that I thought that was hippie bullshit and she told me I should be more open minded. I told her she was so openminded her brains fell out and left her with the bill.

Any band with outright nazi or racist lyrics should not be allowed.
a band is a great tool to spread a political message and should not be allowed.
bands with members that are racist yet the music isnt racist (BURZUM, ONE LIFE CREW) should be accepted, but always make fun of Varg and Chubby Fresh.

Banning racist music with racist lyrics is good because it makes us all a little more comfortable, but it's also bad because it will reenforce racists' belief that they're being persecuted by blacks/jews/muslims/whoever and need to fight back. Now of course that's not say that we should start booking white power bands if they ask for shows so they wont feel persecuted, but they should still be allowed to listen to shitty RAC about hating minorities in the same way I'm allowed to listen to shitty punk about hating politicans and cops. At the end of the day all I care about is that nobody gets hurt and we're all still free to live our lives the way we want.

Censorship usually leads to a rise in interest in said subject.

Meh, i am not saying ban it , but if there was a NS or Nazi punk presence in the scene here id like to make sure there was a twice as large anti racist presence at the show.
When Cordell and his buds yell Skrewdriver there is always more people yelling how stupid he is, and I think that's the perfect balance.

Bands like Burzum do not need the added interest because of Vargs.....politics. That band is by far one of the best black metal bands and it sucks the music is wrapped up in that dudes beliefs.

lyrics (especially in hardcore) are incredibly important. If a band has amazing music, sometimes I can look past shitty lyrics but for the most part I get way more into bands who sing out things I feel, agree with, respect etc.

Personally, I happen to agree with Jordan on this. To me at least, lyrics are the most important part of a song. It's why I just can't get into some bands everyone loves (Judge, for example) because I just can't agree/get into the lyrics.
