tonights cinematic menu will be featuring: Planes Trains and Automobiles. Because I love Steve Martin, and John Candy.

good old dinsey.
Re: NOW WATCHING (TV/MOVIES/ETC)
I think we're feeling similar about TIE'86. There was a lull in the middle but it ended so damn heavy. I feel like it was the length. They could have made 3 stronger episodes out of the 4, or gone the other way and made a couple more episodes so they had time to go places with certain story lines. I think 4 episodes was a bad length to choose both for plot development and pace.dave mac wrote:Just finished the final episode of This is England '86...
hmmmm, shift to a decidedly heavy ending... not sure how I feel about it. Will probably watch all 4 episodes again before I make my final judgement.
Re: NOW WATCHING (TV/MOVIES/ETC)
i went and saw Exit through the giftshop at uvic when it screened there. it was fantastic.
i certainly agree with everything thats been said about it, any way you slice it it is simply a masterpiece.
it was compelling to watch and had such a fantastic backstory to it. I'm certainly convinced that banksy created it all as a hoax, as his intermittent appearances seem to be cleverly placed in such a manner that we are just sort of made to think that somehow, the madness makes sense.
Thierry's character is most certainly contrived. i dont for a second believe he is a legitimate person.
it seems to me, like it was Banksy's way of making a movie about himself, without having to just say "hey, im making a movie about myself" and also, doing what he does so well, intrigues mass ammounts of people by his publicity stunts.
best delivery/line of the movie comes at the end
“I used to encourage everyone to give street art a try…(beautifully timed pause)…I don’t do that so much anymore.”

It's online now, I watched it this weekend. Good movie, thanks for the recommendation.dave mac wrote:I saw Animal Kingdom @ The Granville 7 theatre in vancouver. I think it is a very limited release.
I just searched Vuse for it, indeed it is hard to find, only trailers came up for it.

Watched way too much TV online this weekend. Caught up with Fringe. Liking it so far. Willa, you still following that show?
And watched Boardwalk Empire. Really good. It takes much of what I liked about both Deadwood and The Sopranos and combines it into one show.

Really enjoyed it. Well as can be seen by watching 13 episodes in one day. Also don't like typing up big reviews right now since it takes so long to typw just one word.

besides the actual references to Rand / Atlas Shrugged i find a few of the characters have so many overlaps with rand character types. it is pretty awesome since i really enjoyed her novels. Draper has more flaws than Rearden who he would draw more comparisons to out of most rand characters
It really intrigues me as i watch the show. so many overlaps in ways to how characters act in the fountainhead or atlas shrugged. well for season one

I loved that movie. It had one of my favourite monologues in film (when he talks to the priest at prison).stumped. wrote:its not really a documentary per-say but i heard Hunger by Steve McQueen is super good.carlsincharge wrote:can anyone recommend me some good documentaries? i feel like learning something tonight
