i have all the volumes [the collected comics] up until volume 11 or 12, whichever one they are on - it is a fantastic series.
we've discussed it [not at length] on the watching now thread, but i contemplated making a thread on my own.
they are obviously going to take liberties witht he story, as it is laid out in the comics, well it just wont work for TV - and that is already apparent after watching episode 2.
i wont spoil it til after everyone's seen it - but it is a pretty great episode.
im liking the way they are going with this franchise

Glad to hear they're willing to fuck with the storyline. I completely agree with you that it just would not work as a television series if it followed the comic religiously.

I was psyched on the first volume mainly because the art was sweet, but it took a total nosedive once they changed artists for the second volume. However, I'm enjoying this show quite a bit so far.

I've definitely been put off a comic before for not liking the art (ie. Bernie Mireault taking over for the Pander Brothers on the Comico run of Grendel), but man, you're missing so much good story telling if you let the art deter your reading this book.

I have to agree. I'm completely caught up and the story has just been getting better and better. The art is definitely better in the first volume, but I actually like the second artist as well. He's got a lot of Steve Dillon to him.

they just escaped that small horrible little town with the governor. those torture scenes were all kinds of fucked up

Hmmm, tons of people I know have recommended it to me, I just haven't been reading any comics recently so it might be a while before I revisit it.

well, that episode was ALOT of character development, and very little exciting action.
I'm stoked Norman Reedus is playing a role, i thoroughly enjoy his performances.
I'm VERY angry that there are only 3 episodes left this season, what the fuck.
