kind of short notice dude. You should give yourself (and the bands) at least a month to get info all down.

i would have done it in may, but it'd be competing against a ton of shows.

provide house? So you aren't even going to try for a venue like most promoters do

i like house shows better, more intimate.
but really, can afford the event centre, dont like ambrosia very much. definitely cant afford the legion on gorge. the only venue i can afford is the langford legion, and thats out of the way for a lot of people.

also this would be my first show ive ever put on, you think you could cut me a little slack?

Sorry dude, you don't get to volunteer other peoples houses for your show. If you wanna promote, ya gotta do it like the big kids. Rent a hall, put up your own money, poster (and putting a poster up on Facebook doesn't count), and run the door.

Also, there is no way you can pull a successful show off in three weeks. Do a show in June if May isn't looking good. That gives you time to save up money, find a hall, maybe entice a band from Vancouver, make a poster, poster a couple nights a week, and find people to help you set up/tear down.

I know it seems like a lot of fun, and it can be. But it's also a lot of work, and if you fuck it up there's a good likely hood of a hall shutting it's doors to us (or people not letting shows happen in their house anymore)

Meh we've done shows on less than like 2-3 weeks notice and still went off well. Some people just over do how hard it is to put on shows. Good luck Alexis! Show is on our 19th birrrthday!

In Vancouver. Victoria is a completely different beast. I'm not trying to be a dick, but you really don't know what you're talking about on this one. I'd like Alexis to put on shows, but I'd also like him to be successful so he doesn't quit after one show.

id rather not have a vancouver band play, though they may have a bigger draw. i wanted to do this for the kids here that dont get to play very often.

but, as it seems more and more that itd be preferred if i did this some other time.

so for right now at least im considering this as (90%) no longer happening.

also i didnt meen to "volunteer" anybodies house and put them on the spot, just that i thought id ask in case there was anybody who may have been thinking of putting on shows in there home but hadnt put the idea out there, as they didnt know who to talk to, which seems like an odd specific though, but made sense to me, as i feel theres a bit of a lack of communication between groups in victoria.

but i would like to thank everyone for the offered help, kind words, interest, and suggestions.
