Fads that need to stop

Bitch about fads that you don't like right in here. I can tolerate the stupid haircuts, because maybe mine is pretty stupid, but there's some stuff that might bite on your conscience. Post em.
1. Tapes. I don't like the sound of tapes. I don't like the packaging. They're ugly. I'd rather literally have a CD-R or 7".
2. Pantera being "cool" again. Stop it. Dimebag could play the guitar, yeah we know, but they were overrated and Phil Anselmo is just some racist.
3. Liking Disfear. Every single other crust/d-beat band from Sweden is better.
ps: don't just post goddamn crunkcore, get creative, be controversial. Oh and two postings before someone says "tight pants"..

I cant get behing the tape like, i find cdr's ugly and i misplace them, would rather just download shit, and tapes are cheaper to do than a record so if im going to have a hardcopy of a demo or something I'd rather have it on cassette

I love tapes, like CD's. Always have. Same with Pantera. I've loved that band since eighth grade.
However, in the spirit of this thread:
1. Women dressing like my mother did in 1994. That is, in no way shape or form, flattering.
2. Bands starting, and then almost immediately doing a full Canadian/American tour, or some such shit.
3. "Band X is the Black Flag of our generation". No, no they are not. Stop saying this, it simply makes you look ignorant.
4. Having six t-shirts and no recordings.
That's all I can think of at the moment. I'm a cranky, cranky man, though. So I'll probably have something else to add later.

I think Meghan mentioned something about the new fashion being "anti-fashion" or something to that effect.

It's fucking ugly. Women dressing like dump trucks isn't anti-fashion. The whole thing just pisses me off.

Fuck you.
I agree on Disfear though actually so I guess I can let it slide this time. Just listen to Anti-Cimex instead.

Tapes are annoying. Its 2009 I dont have a walkmen anymore. This whole notion that a demo has to be on a cassette is preposterous old guard thinking. A demo on cassette almost garuntees I wont be listening to it. I too have been listening to pantera since I was too young to know what good music was but dont you like when people profess to have always like whatever shitty band is cool to like this week.

I really like this fad of caring about what fads other people are into.
I'm not a huge fan of tapes either, but I'll take them over a CD anyday. CD's are probably the absolute worst format for recorded music.

I like tapes, for one thing many-a-car have a tape deck still and its more fun to collect tapes for your car then get one of those false life-metal adapters to your ipod gouch. CD-R's are lame, I'm looking at a pro-tape right now with a nice foldout sleeve and professionally printed labels right on the tapes and it beats the ever-loving shit out of some cd-r with a glued-together slip case. I typically lose those within an hour of getting them.
Women can dress however they want, and I'm sure most of them don't give a shit about what a bunch of man-boys who get verklempt thinking about leaving their house without a band t-shirt on think about their current and well-thought out fashion repertoire. In related annoyances, it bugs me when guys go on and on about how they don't like women who wear "too much" makeup and they like that "natural" look. If that is your preference, fine, but shut up about it, it always comes across as some sort of mating call directed at any mousy, non-threatening women in earshot.
Fads that currently bug me? Good d-beat bands getting older, into coke, and thinking ripping motorhead off note for note is a good idea. Oops, already brought this up re: Disfear.
Hmm, another fad that is bugging me is all my friends getting older, out of politics and music, hunkering down with their significant other and then literally attacking ME for my lifestyle. I am the first to stick up for my homebody friends if people are blaming their significant other for "keeping them home", but if I have to see another facebook update about how stupid people are who protest against capitalism but "use government services" as the fucking lynch-pin of their argument against being an anarchist, I'm going to drown in my own rage vomit. Its been explained to me as "as you get older, you just want nicer things." 10 years heavily involved in a sub-culture whose main principals include fortifying yourself against capitalist brainwashing, and you totally one day just change sides because you're getting embarassed that people the same age as you look down on you because they only see the silly, hot-topic and fashion side your movement. Fuck that. I knew that wasn't the life for me as far back as elementary school and haven't looked back. Play fast or die.

Everybody knows that the first tenet of anarchism is to bicker over menial bullshit and name call. It's a very proud tradition dating all the way back to the days of the first international when Karl Marx and Mikhail Bakunin decided to put aside their philosophical differences and take part in some good old fashioned ad hominem and name calling.
As for ones peers only seeing silly hot topic fashion and what not, I get asked all the time when I think I'll out grow punk rock and settle down with a real job. It doesn't bother me as much as it used to because over the past couple of years, pretty much since I've moved here, I've accomplished more with punk rock and my shitty pretend job than most people ever will in a suit and tie at the office. So fuck those squares. They can eat a bag of assholes.

I think the whole anger at that fashion statement is that most (not all, but most) of the women I've met who've been into it are also the most pretentious, look-down-their-nose, horrifically annoying hipsters on planet earth. These are the girls who decided to dress this way and then turned around and acted like all the other women out there not dressing that way were "slaves" to "fashion". Don't get me wrong, there are loads of women I know who could stand to stop buying clothes, but this "anti-fashion" movement is simply another excuse for women to be elitist and shitty to each other, without even having the good graces to look good while doing it. It's hypocritical and stupid, and just pisses me off.

It's like I've been saying for years, anti-fashion doesn't exist. Anybody who wears clothes or has a haircut is subscribing to some sort of fashion. The second somebody tells me they're anti-fashion I stop listening because the only people who could really be described as not subscribing to some sor of fashion are people without the luxury of being able to choose what clothes they wear.

I don't think anyone's disputing that, but there's nothing wrong with disliking a particular women's fashion style. There are times when I think the popular fashion sucks for boys and girls, and other times I've thought "why did boys dress so badly then when girls were dressing so sharp?".
"mousy, non-threatening women" ... do you mean girls with eye shadow on are assertive and threatening?

HEY. Pantera, as overrated as they are, always will be cool.
I like tapes -- I don't like tapes because they're better quality than CDs or whatever other bullshit reasons people are giving. I like tapes because when I was five years old, my mom came home and handed me an Aaron Carter demo tape. She put it in my tape player, and I proceeded to yank it out, and pull out the plastic stuff inside the tape (I have no idea what that's called). I had hours of fun with the crap that I pulled out from inside that one tape ... thus, I will never dislike tapes.
Fads that need to stop?
Converse.
Leather jackets.
Little girls listening to Between the Buried and Me and running around telling people how metal they are.
...and uh, autotune/crunkcore. Had to say it.

This. Not sure when wearing leather became okay again in punk rock, but man I'd like to see it die.

What do you mean "okay again"? Leather jackets have been de facto punk rock gear since day one.
Also, Between The Buried And Me are one of the best metal bands going. That's totally a fad I can get behind.
