what can you tell me about sovtek maintenance and repair? there's a mig100 on craigslist for $450 and i'm considering it, but i want to know if repairing and maintaining them is any more of a headache than it would be for any other amp. from what i understand it's sort of a soviet marshall clone and i guess i'm worried about how tubes and hardware manufactured now would translate with the hardware used in the originals.

ditto. those amps are awesome. some of my fav bands use or have used them.

$450 is pretty good too considering they've become more known in the diy/hardcore circuit over the last eight years or so. before the "boom" that price was pretty average for one without any issues. I don't know any more than that they sound awesome though, haven't owned one. alex of Kidcrash/Science Amplification would probably be able to answer any questions you have considering he played one forever and also makes amps.
