figure out what everybody plays, start some sick new bands!

Vocals
Bass(not very well)

When I get back I'd be interested in doing vocals for something heavy/fast/angry, or bass for a 97 youth crew band.

So true. This being said, I play the bass, can play power chords on a guitar, and can do metal vocals.

Dark Cloud may be looking for someone who has skill at this. What would you say your skill level is?

guitar (taught myself in high school, probably the most fun and interesting to me even if it's not my main instrument proficiency)
bass (see above and subtract some skill)
"noise stuff"
soon to be drums if I can ever afford to complete my beater drum kit
keys/piano stuff (8 years of private jazz piano lessons)
saxomaphooooneeeeee (5 years of playing in middle and high school ensembles, jazz bands, etc, then I used it as my principal instrument for my music minor at uvic and played in the don wright symphonic winds)

I can make it look like I know how to play a guitar.
I'm classically trained on the bass, but I haven't touched one in over 5 years.

Yeah. I played one in highschool in the orchestra, which sucked big time, and in a dixie band, which was the funnest shit ever.

Upright bass is really fun to play. Plus they're cool as hell. I have an electric upright, which is fun to play in it's own way, but not nearly as cool as a proper double bass.

I loved trying out the upright bass in the ol' band room back in the day. so much fun. I couldn't bow properly but it was really sweet to pluck it and get a sweet groove going.

When I was in grade 11 my highschool got rid of their beautiful old double bass that I was completly in love with to replace it with a new electric upright. It was still fun enough to play but no matter what I did to it still sounded completley soulless. And then my music teacher started ragging on me to play with more soul. It was like he just didn't understand that you can't just tweak some knobs and get the same noises that you can out of an old worked in instrument. I actually ended up quitting the music programme over it. It still bums me out to think about.

Absolutely, that much air vibrating inside that big body makes a huge difference to the feel of playing a proper upright bass vs. an electric. Being able to feel the note fundamental vibrate through the body is a big part of what makes playing the upright so cool.
