"He made it clear by saying, 'What about the Olympics?'" said Goodman. "And I said, 'You mean when President Obama went to Copenhagen to push for the Olympics in Chicago?'"

"He said, 'No. I am talking about the Olympics here in 2010.' I said, 'Oh I hadn't thought of that,'" said Goodman.

"He said, 'You're saying you're not talking about the Olympics?'"

"He was clearly incredulous that I wasn't going to be talking about the Olympics. He didn't believe me," Goodman said.

Amy Goodman was speaking literally above me last night. During my radio show. This was a CFUV fundraiser / also her book tour.

I even got calls from people asking if she was still speaking because of this article.

SHe only had 48 hours to do a speech in both vancouver and victoria.

You can listen to Democracy Now on CFUV 101.9FM! Monday - Friday 12:00pm - 1:00pm (cfuv.uvic.ca, 101.9FM or 104.3 on cable radio)
or you can also watch it at democracynow.org

Seems like a case of while there may be a reasonable government making policy*, the actions of the people on the ground don't reflect that. There can be a bad apple in the chain of command... to mix metaphors.

*I am vehemently against the Olympics.
