I see him pretty frequently. He just wanted some recomendations. No biggie. I don't think he's too into the core though.

by disagree i strictly meant the first sentence of the post only.
I stand by what I said. When you're getting into something new, looking a a bunch of lists isn't gonna do much ,if any, good. If we were to ask everyone here what their starting point within this culture is, I doubt anyone would say "Oh, I saw a bunch of lists online and got stoked". Maybe I'm wrong though, who knows with kids these days...

The first punk show I ever went to was Gob and the Black Halos back in 2000, and the only reason I went was because I thought that Black Halos was a cool sounding name. But yeah, lists of bands on message boards aren't really the best way to get into a subculture. But Jordan really just wanted some new tunes for his iPod and probably decided to check out some hardcore bands because of how often I babble to him about hardcore at work. I don't think this was suposed to be anything more serious than a way for him to get a bunch of band names and then sift through them. I asked him once if he checked out any of the bands recomended here and he said that he probably just that wasn't into hardcore but was stoaked on Bury Your Dead and Blood For Blood. Then we started yelling "BURY YOUR FUCKING BREAD!" at eachother. It was awesome.

well i dont know about you guys but i got into hardcore through the internet...
none of my friends were in it, so i had no one to talk to about it or get recommendations. everyone was either into snotty shit-punk or like 90s alternative rock or current metal blah blah blah

hxcmp3.com was huge for me. showed me what demos were popular and who some of the current bands were. granted most of it was metalcore but that was still a good gateway for me. myspace too, clicking through friend lists and topfriends ect. ect.
especially for localized bands, topfriends and just constantly listening and browsing for something new

I walked by the show when I was done work that night to see what was going on. It looked like they were playing to an empty room.

WE MISSED HAGGATHA argh. the only opening band i saw was carpenter, they were so bad. i thought gob was good, still high energy for a bunch of old/fat/diabetic guys. their new stuff was pretty awful but i had a great time

I was really into punk when I was younger and tambo knew that. One day he had me listen to AK-47. I fucking loved it so he got my e-mail and sent me a list of bands I should check out. If it wasn't for that list (and Tambo ;) ) I probably wouldn't be into hardcore. Hell, my life would be a lot fucking different.
