This kinda rules. Recordings were wicked quiet, but what I could hear sounded pretty awesome.

Like I said before...THIS AIN'T POWERPOP!!!!!
You guys play punk-rock. You won't be playing the Logan's show...but might be able to play the All AGes White Lung/Vapid show before the LOgan's show...

Imagine if the Ramones sang about girls and being sad instead of about girls and doing drugs.
Pointed Sticks, Cloak/Dagger, Pink Flag era Wire. Fun 100 were a good example from Vancouver. Good stuff.

Nope on all counts...all PUNK bands!!! I might let you slide on the Pointed Sticks...or shit like some Buzzcocks or Boys shit, etc...but they were still more pop-punk than power pop.
Fun 100...also more pop-punk. Cloak/Dagger and Wire aren't even on the pop end of the spectrum...
Power Pop was what bands in the late 70's/early 80's were doing with their skinny ties and sugary hooks. Highly influenced by 60's pop, taking cues from bands like The kinks, Who, Beatles, etc, etc...amping it up a bit, but never losing the HOOKS!
You wanna know what Power Pop is...the best example that everyone know is "My Sharona" by The Knack. Now EVERYONE knows what we're talking about. Every hear of The Romantics, The (Paul Collins) Beat, The Nerves, The Plimsouls, 20/20, The Shoes, Jack Lee, Breakaways, Rubinnos, The Shivvers, The Speedies, The Heats, Flaming Groovies (mid to late 70's period), Cheap Trick (poppier shit from the first 3 LP's), Zippers, etc, etc???
How about modern bands like The Exploding Hearts, Electric Shadows, Nice Boys, etc???
Most power-pop is NOT cool...take a look...

people's definitions of genres change.
they always do it and i am past the stage of trying to correct people or argue with people so i just shrug and be like yes that is "insert said genre*
ps i was into those first few

well the songs are poppy and soft and we attempt to sing, so power pop seemed fitting.....genres are shit anyways, who cares. Im under the impression that were not playing the show with vapid after all.....but we have a decent amount of songs and would like to play shows!

I'd argue that the Pointed Sticks and Fun 100 could be considered power pop. If they were slowed down a bit they'd fit the description to a T. But I find it really perplexing that anybody could listen to Wire or Cloak/Dagger and say "yeah, this sounds like Cheap Trick".
But anyways, enough thread derailment. Back to talking about We Don't Wanna.
