Watched it and was very happy with the outcome.

Just as an overall note on the Olympics:

I had been against the Olympics from almost the very beginning. I know that the tax dollars that were spent on the winter games probably could of gone to a much better place; however by the end of the games today I felt a pride in this country that I have never felt before. Seeing the boys win the Gold Metal today in Mens Hockey and then watching the highlights of all other medal winners over the passed two weeks, gave me a tingle in my neck.

I rode my bike downtown here in Kelowna to hangout with the people that would surely be coming out of the bars to celebrate. It was amazing to see the camaraderie between complete strangers, connecting with one another on the plain fact that we were apart of the same fantastic nation. Though this country certain does have its problems, I can't think of anywhere else in the world I would rather live.

Shit, who cares. Well I guess that's a stupid question, considering the amount of meatheads with molson jersey's and canada capes honking 2 hours straight trying to give out some mandatory high fives before they hit the miller lite's.

Best day I've had for a while. Allow me to explain.

Started off at work 9am. Bummed that I can't watch the game, because we no longer have cable in our electronics section due to us watching cartoons instead of working or something. Around 10:30-11 we realized wait what the fuck, we could listen to it on the million radios we have on display. Took us a while to find a station that was going to be doing play by play but we were set. Noon rolls around, let me tell you. I ignored almost all my customers (of which there were few, mostly just people asking the score) and was glued to the radio the entire time. We had a group of 5-6 employees hovering around the radio, and a dozen more that would check in every few minutes. Not to mention one of the upstairs office types would announce the score every time a goal was scored or just to update us.
I was finished work at 2pm, however I clocked out and stood beside that radio till the end, god damn that was a good game. Tieing it up in the last 24 seconds? LONGEST INTERMISSION OF MY LIFE from 3rd period to OT. When we won, everyone in the store was clapping and cheering, and a crazy roar erupted from the mall as if everyone shopping that day stopped to cheer. It was a pretty good feeling. It doesn't stop there, I went downtown for some sushi, everyone on the street cheering, honking horns, waving flags. Complete strangers chatting it up, having a laugh and discussing the game etc. Overall a good day, I think.

I support hockey the sport, but not the Olympics. That "Gold" cost us 6 billion dollars. I'm glad we won it in some ways because Canadians are sore losers and I'm sure we'd embarrass ourselves horribly with riots. Good for those guys. Time to move on with life.

It was a hell of a game. That's what I plan on telling my future kids when they're butt hurt about still paying it off.

The number of chochy assholes in molson hockey jerseys walking around downtown yelling/honking their car horns was fucking staggering, I shudder to think what Vancouver must have been like.

This and Chads post brought the heavy lols.

Say what you will about sports not being punk. I've loved hockey my whole life, I've played it my whole life, I've watched it my whole life and this game ment a lot to me. Got up at 5am to drive into a buisy city and run around looking for an all night bar with the game on. Me and my friend found one and at 7am (when the game started) it was full of Canada jerseys, shirts, hats, face paint. We were fucking loud as hell and everyone but me was drunk as hell. When I watched Iginla pass that puck to Crosby who put it in I lost my shit. Biggest game I've watched since the Flames almost won the cup in 2004. Best game I've watched in a long time. Let the haters like

I don't think anybody said anything about sports not being punk. I like sports anyways. What I don't like is when sporting events that have no bearing on the real world take priority over actual human needs. The 6 billion spent on the olympics would have been way more than enough to clean up the down town east side by providing addiction counselling, job training, putting people in apartments, giving people food, etc. Every homeless person in BC could have a roof over their heads with that kind of money. But instead it was spent on bullshit gentrification, kicking people out of low income housing so olympic facilities that most of us will never get to use could be built, and further dehumanizing the homeless population, most of whom have severe mental health issues, by shipping them out of the city so that rich tourists don't have to see them. But hey, we won at hockey!
The olympics made me embarrassed to be Canadian and of the province I decided to call home. We're supposed to treat each other better than that.

But yeah, man, when Sidney Crosby hit the football off the goal posts and made a home run it was...um...awe inspiring?
