If this is enough wattage for your needs these amps sound really good. The V-Type preamp is a classic TE take on the Alembic F-1X (aka the Fender tone stack) preamp, one of my faves. Always liked TE amps, I've owned a few in the past and always dig them. Still miss the Hexavalve and AH400SMX TE amps, both were really nice.

Yup, I also have also loved every Trace Elliot amp I've played through. Terrific starter amp!
I play bass. I play guitar. I do both poorly. What's up.

for reference, this is 280 watts and an svt is 300.

While Trace Elliot do make a very good power section, this amp does not compare to an SVT for volume regardless of how close their wattage rating may seem on paper.
