We did "Nervous Breakdown". We also did "Where Eagles Dare" by the Misfits. We were gonna cover "Fight for Your Right To Party", but Bodyguard did it first.dalamar501 wrote: Final verdict did black flag no?

Then you'll go from being lonely to wishing that everybody would just fuck off because their a bunch of fucking buzzkills going on about how 'you've got a problem" and they "just want to be their to help you". You don't need any of them. You just need drugs.

Oh yeah! Forgot about the NOFX cover.
Re: What covers does your band play?
i think the reason people like covers is because they're such a novelty. how many times have to been to a show and seen a band that nobody would ever give the time of day to until they played some classic song and the same kids that have been holding up the wall all night are the kids that get up on their feet and go all wiiiilllld for a minute and a half before returning to THE OUTSIDE, or back to the back of the room like what just happened was actually important...? if you're actually writing serious music and spend good time on it, chances are covers don't get a lot of attention because you're too busy worrying about your own craft than regurgitating someone else's ideas for the heck of it. just my observations from going to shows and playing in bands for the last 10+ yrs. not hatin', just statin'.
don't know if it counts since i never got to play a show with them, but i can't remember the covers my first band played. probably mostly minor threat and black flag jams.
had a band in high school that never played a show that played and recorded good riddance - fertile fields
that crappy thrash band i was in did:
left for dead - who d'you know
minor threat - small man big mouth
black flag - revenge, maybe some others i can't remember
afi - i wanna get a mohawk
nofx - linoleum
negative approach - ready to fight (jammed nothing, but never played live)
operation ivy - soundsystem
civ - soundtrack for violence
misfits - mommy can i go out & kill tonight
slayer - hell awaits intro medley
probably some others i can't remember. we played a lot of covers since we weren't good enough to make people actually pay attention to us.
that really loud heavy band:
the swarm - bleeding to death
unbroken - razor

Re: What covers does your band play?
xBONGx is mysterious so I will answer... Tempest did the SWARM cover at their first couple shows. I only saw them do the Unbroken cover once, in Tacoma. Maybe it was played other times, I dunno.
Re: What covers does your band play?
canon.docre - the only time we've ever been in contact that my unusually exceptional memory can recall was a small disagreement several years ago on a message board on an embarassing social networking site for teenagers, and when we met at VIHC fest in 2010. you were nice and said kind things.
the first few Tempest shows had that Swarm song (it's a liiittle heavier in C# with my tone \m/ ), yeah... and we played the Unbroken cover a while before the reunion. I figured both out by ear and the solo on "Razor" is the version from the LP, not the weird one they played live (in the 90's or modern era... which is the same version. not sure how they did it before Eric died.). I think we only ever played it in Tacoma, Calgary, and maybe a show or two in Vancouver... possibly Edmonton.

Drop Off:
Gorilla Biscuits - Hold Your Ground
Watcher:
Misfits - Horror Business
A certain ska band that probably shouldn't be mentioned:
Specials - A Message To You Rudy
man, I gotta start having more input on covers

Re: What covers does your band play?
an exhaustive list.

bob - nofx
stay away, tourettes, aneurysm - nirvana,
six pack, rise above, spray paint - black flag
every misfits song
most dead kennedys sons
dahmer - i forget which song
regurgitate, also forget which song

communication breakdown - led zep
after school knife fight covered beat it by michael jackson
so many more.

Well I'll go ahead and tell you right now that I too have a good memory, and I have never been in a disagreement on a messageboard on the internet, ever.destroy wrote: the only time we've ever been in contact that my unusually exceptional memory can recall was a small disagreement several years ago on a message board on an embarassing social networking site for teenagers

3) depeche mode is a sweet band.
4) after school knife fight was one in an interesting group of bands that played most of the first shows i ever went to.
5) canon.docre and i argued about the influence of dread farming party animals on the longevity of legal and illegal venues in vancouver. no hard feelings. friendly chap, solid poster.
6) the hybrid (no toyota!). a looser fitting style at work under camo & carhartts, a more form-fitting style under jeans.
7) i need to do laundry tonight.
