Dude, something tragic happened:

Last night, after listening to No Warning "Ill Blood", I went to brush my stylus off and in a momentary loss of hand-eye coordination, I pushed it the wrong way with my finger nail and broke it right off. To replace it with the exact same stylus I had, I will have to shell out around $400. However, I also have the option of upgrading to the next step up, which would run me around $600...so I have a serious decision to make. I will likely have it replaced tomorrow (Saturday), and if I do, you can come over and listen to the new Dangers.

I'm really stressing out about this right now!

Over the last little while I've made several great record acquisitions.

VA - Punk's Not Dread LP (Extreme Noise Terror, Chaos UK, Posion Idea and others covering their favorite '77 punk songs)
Eyehategod - Take as Needed For Pain LP (Need I even comment?)
Blue Cheer - Vincebus Eruptum LP (Classic proto-metal, insanely loud and heavy blues-rock from '68)
Impiety - Terroreign LP (Best metal album I've heard in awhile, absolutely furious black/death/war metal from Singapore)
Flagitious Idiosyncrasy in the Dilapidation -s/t LP (All-female Japanese grindcore, great stuff)

I also found a Jimi Hendrix Greatest Hits LP in a free box across the street from my house, it's crackly but it plays.

Aghast - Sacrificed on the Altar of State Power (noisy Japanese style d-beat, yay)
Combat Wounded Veteran - 11 Song 7'' (their first record from '96, this band is kinda hit or miss for me but this one is solid and it cost all of $4)

Bought "The White Stripes: Under Great White Northern Lights" today for 20 bones. Double disc: their first live album, as well as a second disc that's a DVD filmed by Emmett Molloy following their first tour of Canada, featuring major concerts as well as random impromptu ones, like getting on a city bus and playing. Or going bowling and doing a surprise set. It rules.

I like cwv. I haven't heard that release but I have most of their major releases. they seem really consistent to me. not hit or miss but I feel like they lost their appeal a little over the years. cool art I guess. I've never been really into the million-short-song kind of thing. I can imagine that they kicked ass in a live setting.
