FALL OF EFRAFA
does anyone else like this band? been jamming their stuff a lot while I'm at work. I hear them getting compared to neurosis a lot but I think neurosis are kind of boring and these guys are alright. some cello-y godspeed you black emperor type buildups, long songs that fall into a rad groove, and it's all about watership down. yes.
this giant box set just came up for preorder and I'm considering getting it. 6 LPS on 180g vinyl, lots of art and stuff. mehhh, maybe not.

Have you listened to all (very differing) eras of Neurosis? I can see why you might find current Neurosis boring (though I don't), but the 90's has some great rocking Neurosis records, like Souls at Zero and Times of Grace.tylerp wrote: I think neurosis are kind of boring

Tyler if you think Neurosis are boring you clearly don't smoke weed.

It took me awhile to really "get" them. I don't smoke a lot of weed, but I think that shit unlocked the "understanding" mechanism of my brain.

I used to love Neurosis when I was younger, then I smoked weed and decided I'd rather hear Burning Witch. Although that being said they were one of the most mind-blowing live bands I've ever had the pleasure of witnessing.
Never heard Fall of Efrafa, and if they sound like Neurosis I guess I probably don't need to.

the whole post-rock-meta-ambient-wtf tidal wave that hit us around 2006 pretty much killed my desire to listen to anything remotely copying neurosis. i used to love that shit too... unfortunate
Re: FALL OF EFRAFA
I actually found the few song ive heard by Neurosis pretty epic.
like is baggage. Life's too short to be pissed off all the time. It's just not worth it.

Re: FALL OF EFRAFA
Someone suggested them to me and I've given Owlsa quite a few plays.
I find them boring but not because they're anything like Neurosis, I hadn't thought of that parallel.
I forget really. And don't have anything constructive to say, maybe besides that if a dude doesn't like post-hardcore-ish stuff that dude is an asshole.
I think you should get that boxed set, I would listen to it with you Tyler.
Apparently they played their last show this October.
