xchadx wrote:I haven't dug that deep into this genre, but i must say that Asunder are one of the greatest Doom bands of all time..and they seem to use this term when describing the music they play. Is anyone into this shit? Are there other "funeral doom" bands that are worth the listen? If so, recommend some.
As much as I don't understand whatever the difference between doom and funeral doom may be, I enjoy Bloody Panda, who describe themselves as such. CAUTION: HIPSTER BAND ALERT

The only bands mentioned in this thread that I know of are Assunder and Kayo Dot. Both are solid bands, backed hard. I still don't know what funeral doom is though.

Where does the funeral tag come in then? I'm just imagining like really slow dirges.

metal genres are fucking stupid.
ps - Disembowelment rules and I hear them classified as "funeral" doom at times. Ahab and Worship are also okay bands.

I love Asunder. I could give a fuck what they're called. They could call themselves "Happy Panda Pedo Club" and I'd say their music ruled. Music is music is music.

Black Sabbath's self titled and Melvins "Houdini" are my go-to stoned records.
