This is shaping up to be a really interesting discussion on the community in general.
First the actual issue: I have no problem whatsoever with Tegan and Sara using the image, for two reasons. 1) it doesn't change what hardcore is to me, regardless of how others interpret it. And 2) I follow a simple rule that either everything is ok to make fun of, or nothing is. Now granted they probably aren't trying to make fun of Black Flag, but my point stands. (this is also an entirely different discussion about if it's ok to make fun of serious things etc).
As far as eroding the community? I don't know if I see it that way, and it sounds kind of extremist to be honest. Our community will stand, because we are still here. We are all friends, we all enjoy hardcore. As long as that continues the community is fine, others will always come in and out mistaking what "hardcore really is". But even that's subjective isn't it?
I go to shows because I usually like at least one band playing, and I'm interested in hearing new music. However, a huge reason I go is because there are cool people to hang out with and have fun. Yes, I go to shows for social reasons. I know people who like this aspect of the scene. I'm not necessarily saying anyone here feels that strongly about it, but I have meet people in the past that are there purely for music and are annoyed by people who just want to hang out with friends.
I am getting off track as my writing usually does, but actually I"m going to just start another thread to ask a different question rather than continue to derail this topic.

Soooo apparently Tegan and Sarah had nothing to do with the production of this shirt and only 4 of them were ever made, so we can all go back to not caring about them, I guess.
