Mare were great. One of the first sort of "artsy fartsy" and slow bands I got into, super nice guy to boot.
Troy, you really missed out on not seeing ninja highschool, so much fun live and awesome kids to party with.

when i saw them i was working at that bar so i got to get a nice "vip" seat and be above and away from the main crowd. i kep seeing people lighting joints and the bouncers b-lining and extracting them. it was awesome.

Mare ruled. werent they from the toronto area? they were hyped a little by the internet stoner metal community years back. they did one show in vancouver and i didnt go to it. bummed.keep_it_real wrote: that cursed show also had MARE, anybody remember them???? they went over about as well as you could expect, sike. nobody liked them. too bad because they're alright if you're into leather couches and hash. the one thing i remember is that only about 40 people came. it's funny that cursed is such an internet hype band now, but when they played, it wasn't unusual to have only 20 kids show up. i had the pleasure of seeing and promoting them a number of times, and was pretty sad when they broke up.

MDF Prefest - Talked to some dude from france who followed PLF and Gride on tour. Saw PLF and iron Lung and yelled at XbrainiaX until they played a No Comment cover.
MDF - Day one! For the first couple of hours i just looked at distros, I met Dave Witte (that guy loves food) I remember Watain being INSANE and covering Bathory..Gorguts was a mindfuck. GRIDE was the best grindcore band that day. Coffins was heavy as shitttt...Trap them didn't play..still don't know why. DRI was my fav.
MDF - Day 2!!!!!!! um I saw Possessed sorta...was funnnyyyy, Wolfbrigade and PORTAL were sweet. pretty sure Fang played and i loved it. Repulsion and Autopsy played in a row and i was front row. I almost got crushed to death
Coffins at 4am in some weird warehouse/someones house. fell asleep during massgrave and woke up to Coffins setting up. Stood next to the drummer of Capitalist Casualties and the bassist from The Endless Blockade. Wandered around for an hour after that. feel asleep in the parking lot infront of the MDF venue and when i woke up a farmers market had been built around me, some old guy thought i was homeless (I don't blame him) and offered me some breakfast. Later that day I bought sooo many vegan tofurkey sandwiches and cookies and went to the last day of MDF
MDF -day 3!!!! I met Jon Chang and Matsubaru from Gridlink and talked about Discordance Axis and ZT Amps. Then I saw EYEHATEGOD.....really my only goal in life. later that day i saw Capitalist Casualties and Entombed. and Converge...
