That's right, anything goes, including crying about what people think is inappropriate content. Anything goes means threads won't be removed based on content, not that people aren't allowed to have opinions about things they don't like.

Plus since you seem sensitive to hyperbole, who are these "lot of people"? How many is a lot? Do you have the statistics on this?

I think the appropriate reaction would have been to let the discussion continue without moving from one forum to another.

I was more so reacting to this: "you literally are a joke to everyone I ask about you". Where people can be upset at Dave for calling them turds, yet when someone states that Dave is a joke to everyone who they talk to about him, that is acceptable. I suppose I was having trouble seeing the difference in acceptable inflammatory content.

Do you understand why it was felt there is a need for a new forum? Do I understand? Can the court secretary read back the minutes on this one?

I don't see one being accepted and the other not. Dave insulted some people, some people insulted Dave. I'm not seeing any bias one way or the other at all. How do you see one being treated acceptably and the other not?

It's a nice thought that people can separate real life and the internet, but the reason the internet should be "taken seriously" is the stuff people are getting butt hurt over here will carry over to real life. It's a drag to me that people I'd like to be friends with in the real world might harbor ill feelings towards me over stuff that gets said/done on a message board.

I mean, if you want a statistic, I could go through that old thread and count how many people were upset by it. We could then divide that number by the total number of people who posted in the thread all together. Or by total users. "A lot" is a fairly arbitrary term admitedly, and one could argue what does or does not constitute "a lot" but the numbers may speak for themselves if it's a resounding majority or minority. I don't really have the time to do that right now, but the idea intrigues me.

To be fair, i wasn't bagging on this canon character for using hyperbole. It's more the idea in general that he is asking people about Dave then saying that these nameless people all think he's a joke. That kind of thing is always funny to me when it happens on message boards. Even if it was only one person who he had asked, it would have been funny to me because essentially we're talking about "Hey guy I don't know, I've been asking some people who will remain nameless and the concensus is that you're a joke." seemingly with the expectation of offending someone. Hilarious in the sense that I can't imagine anyone actually being offended by it. I just think it's a hilariously poor-planned attempt at defamation. I can't stress enough that I find this whole thing funny.
