Watched this at work today for like the 5th time. My favorite movie ever.

Just watched Somewhere and wow I was blown away. what a piece of film. The best film of 2010(still haven't seen 127 Hours yet but I doubt it will be better than this movie.) This movie was amazing. It makes Lost in Translation, and all "mumblecore" basically look plot heavy. I think because of the lack of dialogue. I love how so many of the shots just linger on and on(ie the scene of them by the pool and the shot of Johnny in the make up room) in way that almost makes them feel hypnotic. It made the scenes between the two of them(the father and the daughter) seem less like charming bonding between the two and just more of a display of happiness that is static and listless and has little to do with the main narrative. So when the conflict finally shows up it hits you hard. Id say it hits you just as hard as anything in Lost in Translation it just not as plain to see since this movie gives off so little. THe ending was was almost too conventional but I would say it was needed for emotional effect and didn't cheapen the film too much.

Watchin Robert altman's 3 women tonight

Wow. Total mindfuck going on at points like most "dream" movies or whatever you want to call it. Kind of like how Mullholland Dr was fucked up.
Reading about it was also pretty sweet how Altman got the money for it from a guy at the studio knowing the studio would make money off of Star Wars and lose money on this. Duvall and Spacek both put in strong performances. With the characters taking a kind of role reversal much like the two women in Bergman's Persona.

Was way into this movie and still don't really get the ending now.

Also last night I watched Tom Ford's A Single Man

Great performance from Firth and holy shit on Eduard Grau's cinematography. SO much of the movie's feel and story is told through the cinematography.
It wasn't AMAZING but it was still a well made film. Good first outing for a former Gucci fashion designer.

Threat Level Midnight. Greatest movie ever. I though Gold Face's character was top notch but Micheal Scorn was what really made that movie a piece of art. "The Scorn" was a mesmerizing dance that completely blew me away. I will have to admit, I kind of knew Gold Face would kill someone. I didn't however, know the hostage he killed was a wanted animal rapist. Micheal Scorn is my hero.

did you notice that when he's kind of wallowing in his sadness the colors become more and more grey, and when people reach out to him things become noticeably vibrant and lush. i mean you most likely did,, but that was something that really struck me about it.

Just watched the sequel to before sunrise, before sunset. After watching them both truly feel they were great. Really just two movies of the two characters having conversation on the topics of love, life and everything else. Great afternoon shots in Paris.
