The only David Lynch flick I've ever enjoyed the whole way through was Blue Velvet. Otherwise, I think he just tries WAY too hard. Twin Peaks is fucking rad, though.
Lost Highway is a mess and I havn't seen his latest, but I like a few Lynch films. I enjoyed Blue velvet, Wild At Heart, Twin Peaks (film and TV series), and the Straight Story, and thought Mullholland Drive was ok. Never liked Dune, but to be fair his vision of the movie was really long and it suffered by being edited to hell.
Yeah, Straight Story and Wild At Heart are amazing.
Aiden, you are literally the first person I've met that didn't like Pontypool. The entirety of the staff at my work, which include two film majors LOVED this movie, and it got 84% on Rotten Tomatoes. I will now say it: you are so very, very, VERY wrong. YOU should watch it again, and look for the sub text within the film, specifically towards the concepts of language as virus/carrier of disease. ALSO, this was simply part one in a trilogy, so take that into consideration as well. FINALLY, again considering the language based sub text, I feel fairly confident that Stephen McHattie was purposefully mispronouncing words. JUST SAYIN'.
PS You should also come to the show on Saturday. I'm much better at discussing these sorts of things face to face.
