How hard have you guys tried to find a label? I'm not calling you out about this, just wondering, because I feel like NE is a strong enough band that there's got to be a label who'd be into doing a record with you guys.canon.docre wrote:Labels are not interested in putting out my bands' records

I think it's fair that Scott has frustration about people being committed in bands and working to progress them. You play music long enough you get a fair share of flakes come into and out of your musical life and it can wear on you.
But I know Tyler really cares about getting things done with Watcher and I think you unintentionally hit a nerve Scott. All bands come with a certain level of frustration at keeping them organized and on the tracks.
From what I can tell you're both guys who've done a lot for the Vic hc scene and care about playing music and your respective projects. You've both shown yourselves to be motivated people. And you're both in bands that are hella sweet.
Kay, good luck getting this band going, I'm sure you'll find some people into this in Vic. If you don't have any luck making it happen in Vic then consider the option of a band you'd commute to Van for occasionally and I'll put you in touch with some people here that'd probably jump to play in a band in this vein.

yeah, Scott, I think I took your response a little more personally than I should have. thank you for being much less venomous than I expected in your response. you do a good job of demonstrating the efforts one should make in being in a committed band. and the underlying message is valid. I think it's really important for a band to do exactly what No Eulogy is doing and I'm mad that my own band hasn't been able to maintain a stable lineup or jamspace and I don't want to attribute those to my own lack of commitment. so really, it probably just comes down to the fact that you hit a nerve and I interpreted your post as trying to one-up the efforts of everyone, and that seemed especially weird in a thread where I was voicing my interest. your rant hardly seemed related to what I was originally saying in here, so I thought you were basically calling me out as not putting effort into anything just because I posted in this thread. like "no way kay, you don't want THAT guy in your band."
tl;dr: I was a bit of an internet crybaby but I meant what I said but I still like you and may purchase you a faxe out of guilt and goodwill.

Will you buy me a Faxe too? You know, to extend the goodwill even further?

yes. it has been my dream to buy one of those giant flats of faxe that I always see at hillside liquor.

If you buy the flat I'll buy some whiskey and a can of red energy drink. We'll make porch climbers.

Re: Don't wanna waste any time
I dunno. We could have been looking a bit harder, I suppose. I've spoken to five labels total, and one has agreed to help us out (Black Raven Records). Mercy of Slumber Records and Black Banana Records are both into putting something out for us, just not right now as they both have four or five projects on the go. Aborted Society and Rust and Machine Records haven't gotten back to me, but I'm going to assume that's a "no". Not sure where else to turn at this point. I'm not particularly worried about it. Either way, we're putting it out. Just might be a bit longer than first expected.Andrew wrote:How hard have you guys tried to find a label? You don't need any of them. You just need drugs.

Tyler you are such a good guesser! I'm moving in with Stu from Space Miracle/Annettes Beach Party. I'm pretty sure bands already jam there.my post basically meant "You once lived in a rad place that had a basement that was ideal for jams. You are moving back. Perhaps you'll be in a similar place and this would make me excited about a project like this because of the transient jamspace situation Watcher has been in."
Re: Don't wanna waste any time
cool! I talked to mike of measureless and he might be interested in this as a drummer. I have a drumkit I can lend if need be.

Re: Don't wanna waste any time
Yeah my post was pretty shitty, let's smash some faxe together next show Watcher is one of my favorite bands to come out of Victoria, you can't really lose with White Ribs and Nick fucking Gibas, and I really do think its just some bad luck that has put some roadblocks in your way. It doesn't seem at all like you are all going about things in the wrong way. I know I'm not the only one who is looking forward to seeing you guys hit the stage again, and/or hearing a new recording, so don't be discouraged!tylerp wrote:yeah, Scott, I think I took your response a little more personally than I should have. thank you for being much less venomous than I expected in your response. you do a good job of demonstrating the efforts one should make in being in a committed band. and the underlying message is valid.
