it's bullshit, simple as that. The cop can kick someone well they are down, yet if someone were to lay one finger on that cop they would be charged.

Next time I see you we should have a talk about this. I have a lot of view points on the police, but I'd rather do it face to face. It would just sound shitty over the internet.

This isnt simple at all. Did he cross the line ya no one disagrees, but from what I gather from news reports its mostly 3 cops making 6 arrests none of which are going quietly theyve already used OC spray.

How would you and 2 of your friends deal with 6 men stomping on 1 guy should you stumble across it?

I'm with Puff on this one. Obviously over the line and cops should be held to higher standards, but it's certainly not a clear cut situation like 90% of the people I've seen viewing this video think it is (not just on this board, I've seen people talking about it at school, on facebook, other forums, etc.)
I play bass. I play guitar. I do both poorly. What's up.

I don't know if situational ethics should apply to police officers - where this situation could be justified because keeping the peace was the higher goal. I understand the scenario and how difficult it could have been, but regardless, a Police Officer should be held to a strict behavioral code, much higher than that of a street thug. God, I hope they would at least... Also, I don't think the idea that 'they were stomping a guy' justifies returned stomping, that's eye for an eye bullshit.
In my experience, cops get off on excessive force, which is understandable because the assholes i know from high school sure love being cops.

To add to this: The first two kicks he gives are to a dude handcuffed, and held down by two other cops. The third kick, and the two knees, are to a guy who's on his knees, hands held behind his back by another cop who had thrown him to the ground. This seems pretty fucking clear cut. You shouldn't do that as a normal person, you sure as FUCK don't do that when your a cop.

This point is kind of moot unless Jordan and two of his friends are cops. (In theory) they're held to higher standards and given training to keep cool heads in stressful and potentially dangerous situations. Random hardcore kids never swore an oath to follow certain procedures and follow a certain code of conduct either. If a cop can't keep their temper in check when dealing with things like this they shouldn't be a cop. If this dude were a member of any other profession nobody would be making any excuses for him.

While I'm sure that your dad is a nice guy and probably was a good cop, that doesn't undo a systematic culture of corruption plaguing police forces the world over.

Neither are in cuff and both are clearly resisting.
If a cop tells you to put your hands behind your back and you dont do it immediatly you are gonna feel it. This is standard practice.

The cop who wasn't in the yellow jacket had him pinned on his side with his arm underneath him. That makes it kind of hard to put your hands behind your back. He also got on the ground when he was told to, only to be tackled and roughed up. If they wanted him on his stomach with his hands behind his back, they should have said so in the first place.

Its clearly a hypothetical question.
People act like cops arent also human beings. Police training doesnt make you super human and when 3 of you are trying to subdue 6 violent men things are never gonna go according to the book. They coulda tazered him, they coulda got out their asp baton and been 100% justified in doing so.

You act the drunken fool you go to the drunk tank.
You Resist you get a taste of pain compliance
You beat the pain compliance you get sprayed or tasered
you get a weapon you die.

Follow the word of law and none of this will ever be an issue

When I fuck up at my job nobody makes excuses for me and says things like "people act like cooks aren't human beings". They say "You fucked up" and there are consequences.

Exactly, so then there should be a consequence. No one is asking for the death penalty, but something needs to be done, if only to slightly deter this from happening in the future - though i believe these incidents happen frequently.

yes, but no one is gonna die if he mixes up rosemary and oregeno. Cops can (and have) killed people with excessive force. I'm not arguing that the dudes getting beat by the cops aren't assholes, and didn't fuck up. I'm just saying that you can't say "those guys are goons for gang beating a kid" but turn around and argue that a cop has the right to do the same thing. Cops have extranormative rights over the populace, meaning they can and must excercise restraint and caution when using them.

Also, I've never bought into the "don't fight back, they won't hit you" line of argument. That was a bullshit line in 7th grade, and it's a bullshit line now. Bullies are bullies are bullies. Doesn't matter if your a goomba at Social Club, or if you carry a badge.
