Who cares?

also,

Why do 'hardcore kids' continue to stroke their 'we're so hardcore' dicks and jizz all over the kids they think aren't as 'legit'. Hardcore is one big highschool-drama tv show in my humble opinion.

Also, I like trash talk a bit, as well as ceremony, and i guess I can't "point out hardcore if it hit [me] in the dick" because it fucking BORES me (for the most part).

I dunno. I don't like my community and culture misrepresented? I view them as finite and only as sustainable as there are people willing to put in the work? Because it's important to me?

It's not about stroking my dick or making myself bigger. It's about protecting something that I love that means a shitload to me and that I bust my ass for. I love seeing new kids come in and become active members of our community, but it kind of gets on my nerves when someone just uses it and throws it away. Trash Talk got kids laid for a while. When that stops, they're gone. I get that, and understand why they used it. But it's still gonna bum me out, and I'm still gonna say I'm bummed out.

My response to it, however, will be to welcome them to shows and be as open to them as possible. I figure out of those groups of people will be at least one or two who become seriously into it and become active.

How does one band misrepresent a music scene? This is confusing. Also, I don't see how a genre of music, with so many subgenres within it (kind of like the modern church), can be considered a culture. Also, are you fighting the evolution of music? Will not hardcore bands continue to evolve, and with the evolution bring different bands with different values and different target audiences?

I'm with Keith on this one, I don't quite understand the forum or scene beef here. How does Trash Talk get kids laid? And if it does, how does that affect the band itself? Shouldn't kids be getting laid anyway?

That sounds a bit elitist... Not everyone has to find hardcore as a lifestyle or dogma and they shouldn't be looked down upon for not. I just don't understand how kids that aren't in 'the scene', that like this band, somehow make 'the scene' or the band worse.

Overall, I don't get it, but I guess it doesn't really matter or affect me.

Yes. I'm fighting the evolution of music. Everything has to stay the same. Come on. Really? You don't know me well enough to know that's not even close to what I was saying? And besides, I've said, OVER AND OVER in this thread that I like Trash Talk a lot, own their records, jam them out, yadda yadda yadda. It's not them. It's their fans.

I LIKE TRASH TALK GODDAMMIT. READ MY POSTS. REEEEEAAAAD. This isn't about the band it's about their fans.

I got jumped by kids just like this because I asked them to leave from a Quick Said the Bird show at the JBCC when they were caught drinking and doing drugs in the bathroom. Andrew, Kyle Dark, and several others were KNIFED for doing something similar. These are extreme cases, but you get where I'm going with this. Stop acting like there are no consequences to not being vigilant about who we let around here. Fuck, some girl got caught doing K and starting fights at a Troyler show. Guess what? Most of them come from the flash in the pan crowd.

Yeah. I'm an elitist. Fuck it, I'll cop to that. I don't like shitty kids, and most of them come from a certain sub-group of people who don't give a fuck about us and never will. So I don't give a fuck about them, and never will. I will continue to call shitty kids shitty, whether it hurts your feelings or not.

EDIT: Just another point. Did it ever cross your mind why most hardcore shows have been happening at The Troyler? Because no one will rent to us. Because of these flash in the pan dickheads. They come in, wreck venues, make it impossible to do anything in this town worth doing, and then go on their merry way, leaving the mess for people like Troy, Ebony, Zach, Pauly, Scott, Wolf, Tyler, myself, etc. to clean up. You're damn right I ask people to give a fuck about the scene and the community. Your damn right I like kids who are obviously just there to look cool (and go ahead and call me an elitist, you always know who they are). I fucking like those kids, because they're quite often the ones who cause trouble, start fights, whatever. I want everyone to give back and be an active member of the community because if you don't view it as such, YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT IT.

They were knifed because the area around big fernwood is sketchy, and random crack addicts decided to show up and make trouble. Not one of those pieces of shit that did that to my friends were comparable to some kids at a QSTB show or a girl doing K at Troy and Tylers. It had NOTHING to do with "kids posing" in whatever scene. It was a bunch of shitty drugged out retards flipping out because they were on drugs. You really can't use that as a legit example, i'm sorry.

Lets be real here. We were all shitty kids doing shitty things once I flat out don't believe anybody who says otherwise. When I was 16 my intrest in punk rock was superficial at best because it made me look cool and pissed off my parents. When I went to shows I got drunk and did drugs, fought people, and generally carried on like an asshole because thats what kids do because they don't know any better. Then I met some people who wanted to be a good influence to some shitty kids because they usually stop being shitty when they feel like they're a part of somthing and it isn't some elite club. Yeah, granted I never stabbed anybody, but I doubt any of the older punks were too thrilled when my bag of PCP spilled all over the mosh pit and I tried to bottle the poor guy that was kicking me out. The point is that I grew up and stopped acting like an asshole. Sweet, I changed. I'm just glad there wasn't anybody there to apply some blanket generalization to me about flash in the pan trend hoppers who don't care and never will. Now I get to be a part of a scene that prides itself on being open and inclusive so that we can teach kids who don't get it about what's up and maybe they'll do something more constructive than acting like assholes. There's a huge difference be between vigilence and elitism. Vigilence is saying "John Doe's trying to start fights, lets kick him out before it gets out of hand." Elitism is saying "John Doe was wearing a hot pink trash talk t-shirt so other kids in hot pink trash talk shirts are probably going to cause trouble too." And further more, I completly disagree that anybody owes any kind of commitement other than paying cover. Some people just want to hang out and listen to lound music. Some people just want to look cool for their friends. Some people want to take an active part. There's nothing wrong with any of that. I'm in a band because I want to be. I'm a part of the VIHC society because I want to be. I couldn't give to shits if that means I care or I don't. I'm not here to prove anything or to make anybody else prove anything. If that's what I was into I'd take up MMA. It would be great if everybody cared as much as you think they should, but different people like different things for different reasons and unless they're hurting someone none of us have any right to tell them they're wrong for it.

Okay let me spell this out for you: The people who were doing the knifing were in the area had NO idea what kind of music was going on in Big Fernwood. They had NEVER been a part of ANY crew of people involved with bands like Theset or Quick Said The Bird. They were out for a nightly jaunt of doing drugs because they lived in the area, and would hang out in Fernwood causing shit. They happened to stop by that night, seeing that there was a show going on, came in, were totally out of their element, on drugs and flipped out in a drug induced rage. THAT IS WHAT HAPPENED. THE ARGUEMENT THAT THEY WERE THESE "KIDS WHO WERE A PART OF TRYING TO LOOK COOL" is IRRELEVANT because THEY HAD NO IDEA WHAT WAS GOING ON EXCEPT FOR THE FACT THAT THEY STUMBLED ACROSS A VENUE FULL OF KIDS IN TITE PANTS PLAYING GUITARS THEN GOT ALL CONFRONTATIONAL ON PEOPLE OVER SOMETHING STUPID.

I know that and I wasn't even there when it happend. It's a really minimal part of the point I'm trying to make. All I'm saying is that while I never went to the furthest extreme, I did plenty of other fucked up shit that caused a lot of people a lot of grief.

Would you not even believe Troy, Honest Dude Forever.

I can honestly say that I don't think I was ever a shitty kid doing shitty things.

The man has a point, Troy.
But seriously, while I have no problem believing that you weren't the shittiest dude ever or bad kid, I'm sure that there are plenty of things that you did when you were younger that you can look back on now and realize that they were poorly thought out, selfish, and probably caused somebody some amount of grief. Every kid does things like that and part of growing up is realizing that you shouldn't have done those things and trying to do better in the future. I'm fully aware that I was a particularly wild child, but I don't think that I'm an anomaly in that met people other than my chuckle head friends, matured and mellowed out as I got older, took active intrests in things, etc.

what the fuck happened here?

Look, I love hardcore. In fact it's probably the only reason I haven't been found hanging from one of the fucking rafters in my basement. That said, you can't force other people to feel the same way you do. If I could....well lets just say I'd have better luck with girls, birch beer would come out of taps instead of water, Judge-Fed Up would be the Canadian national anthem and so on.

If someone wants to pay their 5$ and take nothing more from the show then "that band played fast" it's their choice. If some kid comes and sees what I see, then I hope to god he puts everything he has into this.
