Considering the two genres are very, very close to one another it's not surprising there would be any metal influence. Are you from Vancouver? I can understand why you would be pretty down on "metal"...destroy wrote: Too bad one of my favourite current hardcore bands is now another heavy hardcore band that's transformed into a full on metal band, attitude and all.

Re: Underrated bands.
Yeah, I'm from Vancouver.
By "full on metal band" I meant that more as a verb... in the sense that they're perfectly happy to take part in standard music "industry" style scenes, allow themselves to be marketed a certain way, have booking agents and the whole nine yards... just throwing away the whole DIY hardcore thing that they came from not too long ago. I just think there's a big difference between the way the average band on Relapse (for example) conducts themselves and how a band on Trash Art or any other of the other scenes they came from does. If it puts things into perspective, the internet reports that they were basically just talking a bunch of shit on stage at Dude Fest and whining about how no one was watching them. That kinda seems to happen to them lots, but I guess if you wanna go on tour and play clubs night after night and be a ROCK BAND that's part of the territory.
For the record, aside from being an insane musician - the new drummer from BSI seems like a really nice guy. =)

That sucks, and weird to hear that about them. One of the things that really got me stoked about them was their lyrical content. A bit of a side-step. Still excited to hear anything new from them, except if it had auto-tune.

dude's definitely a good writer and has a good creative mind, but for a lot of guys i guess once you get old you get tired of struggling through the process and working your ass off. sometimes you just wanna do the music and let everyone else take care of the business end. can't help but feel like it cheapens the whole thing a little, though.
