Next time there's a show at troylers we should try to organize an after party somewhere. It sucks when you're at an awesome show and meet a couple of babes and then the show ends and everybody goes there seperate ways so you don't get to touch any boob. After parties would fix this.

i wouldn't mind after parties AT OUR PLACE. if people didn't hang outside.
like seriously but then people have to smoke, and then people have to hang out with people who smoke, and then people have to talk louder to be heard cause other people are talking near them. IT JUST NEVER ENDS.
or if it was a weekend maybe being outside would be okay... for a bit longer.

I dunno man, it seemed like people were pretty good about keeping the noise down outside last night. It might also be worth having a few of us pitch in on a couple bottles of wine to give to the neighbours as a good will gesture.

I find simply talking to neighbors and letting them know that there's gonna be a party, but everyone will be in/gone by 12:00, and then keeping on that (as well as keeping people as quiet as possible) works the best. Most people are just pissed when these sorts of things come out of nowhere.

EDIT: Also, people were keeping it down, but I was also walking around telling people to go inside. So yeah, just doing that helps a lot, I think.

which i blame tyler for as Willa asked him if he wanted everyone to leave and well i guess it was kind of stressful as people were still around and this was the first show since the last and didn't want the cops to come after the show.

ANYTHING that disturbs the neighbourhood peace AT ANY TIME OF DAY can get a noise complaint and equal a fine and also informing the landlord if you don't own the house.

I blame myself. I had to get up at 6:00am the next morning, I'm the one who organized this entire show, and I'm paranoid about cops showing up. last time they showed up was during the "after party" portion of the last show, which did happen, but didn't happen at this show. so I sort of had to be a dick and had the final say, and I appreciate Willa's help. big props, thanks guy! I mean seriously, it was a weekday, and we have old people living next door. when people got outside at points, they -were- pretty loud. the house next to ours is pretty close. it's like four metres away from my bedroom window.

this is a prime opportunity for the "oh we have to leave, come with me, let's cuddle yo" approach. but I'm not in support of big after parties after the house shows I do. I'm all for it if anyone wants to volunteer their house to sort of break up the pattern of noise and move it, or if anyone wants to go in a large group to the mcdonalds or alzu's or something, but my idea of an after party is just making food for the bands and drinking with them a bit before going to bed.

the saanich noise bylaw is just "noise that disturbs the neighbourhood peace" any time of day. so, that means that if the cops ever get called and see a party, they can fine us and alert our landlord. I don't have the cash to front for a fine and I don't want to deal with an angry landlord. if we want to sustain the house as a venue, we gotta play it safe. by my standards, it went perfectly. if "regular attendees" get used to getting kicked out at the end, then it'll be easier to get them out in the future.
