You never asked me about Dave Mac. He may be opinionated and outspoken but I would never describe him as a joke. As brash as his posts may be, I understand where he's coming from and tend to agree with the point I think he's making

That the way the initial post about the smoking was handled (i know that it was never permanently locked), the censoring, and the creation of the new forum, was an over sensitive reaction to the content.Andrew wrote:What point do you think he's making?carlsincharge wrote: and tend to agree with the point I think he's making

What do you feel would have been the best solution, and what censoring are you referring to?carlsincharge wrote:That the way the initial post about the smoking was handled (i know that it was never permanently locked), the censoring, and the creation of the new forum, was an over sensitive reaction to the content.Andrew wrote:What point do you think he's making?carlsincharge wrote: and tend to agree with the point I think he's making
I feel like there's a lot of over sensitive reaction to Tyler having an over sensitive reaction.

Currently a 54% majority vote for "anything goes."
Hmmm.
There seemed to be a lot of people crying about how that thread Dave started last month was inappropriate for this board.
I'm curious how many of the people in that thread are in the voting majority of this poll.
A healthy number i would suspect.
I sure would like to see a comparative analysis based on IP addresses.
That would be something.
I'd also be delighted to see canon.docre's list of people who are considered good judges of character and know Dave well enough to weigh in.
I'm sure that would be something too.
Oh well, a guy can dream.

I think no reaction, no post deletion, no new forum creation, and to just let the discussion continue would have been appropriate.Andrew wrote:What do you feel would have been the best solution, and what censoring are you referring to?carlsincharge wrote:That the way the initial post about the smoking was handled (i know that it was never permanently locked), the censoring, and the creation of the new forum, was an over sensitive reaction to the content.Andrew wrote:What point do you think he's making?carlsincharge wrote: and tend to agree with the point I think he's making

No reaction would have meant there wasn't anything needing a solution. I'm wondering what, given there was a reaction, do you feel would have been the best answer?carlsincharge wrote:I think no reaction, no post deletion, no new forum creation, and to just let the discussion continue would have been appropriate.Andrew wrote:What do you feel would have been the best solution, and what censoring are you referring to?carlsincharge wrote:That the way the initial post about the smoking was handled (i know that it was never permanently locked), the censoring, and the creation of the new forum, was an over sensitive reaction to the content.Andrew wrote:What point do you think he's making?carlsincharge wrote: and tend to agree with the point I think he's making

The only post deletion was on my part, not Tyler's, and pertained to putting content into the new forum, not an attempt at censorship. Though if you want to think of me as the guy who silenced Dave's ability to post about poo, I'm ok with that. I control the poo police state.

I didn't know who or why dmac's posts were deleted, I only know they were. I was more so reacting to this: "you literally are a joke to everyone I ask about you". Where people can be upset at Dave for calling them turds, yet when someone states that Dave is a joke to everyone who they talk to about him, that is acceptable. I suppose I was having trouble seeing the difference in acceptable inflammatory content. PS I too would be interested in who thinks Dave is a joke, and whether or not they have any validity in calling him that; as well as what "literally" a joke means.

Fair enough. I think he's a joke. Here's why:
He has done jack shit for me. He continues to do jack shit for me. We have never spoken, and continue to never speak. Yet he comes onto this forum stirring up shit and acting the troll. I get that he's probably doing this for laughs, but I think people who do shit like that for laughs are jokes.
Dave Mac does not have anything to do with my life other than to act the fool. Ergo, he is a joke.
I'm glad he's been good to Vancouver, though. I'm sure the shit he's done THERE is worthwhile.

Are you on canon.docre's list of people he's been asking about Dave Mac?Hollow wrote:carlsincharge wrote: PS I too would be interested in who thinks Dave is a joke, and whether or not they have any validity in calling him that; as well as what "literally" a joke means.
I think he's a joke.
We have never spoken
If so, I wonder how many others have never spoken to him.
Man, do I want to see that list.
I really just like the idea that this canon.docre has been going around asking people about Dave Mac.
Trying to get a consensus before publicly decrying him as a joke.
That is truly delicious.
It literally makes me "LOL", as the kids say.
Well, maybe not a full laugh.
At least chuckle though, which is certainly happening out loud.

Who are you and why do you care about what people you don't know think about Dave Mac? The trouble with first impressions is that you only get to make one. He made a bad one and now people think he's a joke. Deal with it.

I find this board hilarious in an irritating kind of way.ZACH ATTACK wrote:Who are you and why do you care about what people you don't know think about Dave Mac?
Most of the attitudes here come across like a Sunday School forum with more profanity.
I'm curious about the Dave stuff because a lot of people here talk about not caring about him or what he thinks, yet they spend an awful lot of time posting about him and responding to him.
Or in the case of our friend canon.docre, asking people about him.
I find that very funny.
For the record I would find it equally hilarious if it were someone else in lieu of Dave.
As it stands I haven't passed judgement vocally on anything other than what I've read here, therefore my name seems inconsequential. I am basing my opinions of this board and it's posters solely on the content of this board and what has been posted. As I've said before, I'm sure there's a few people on this board who know who I am, and consequently, I know a number of the people on this board personally. The only reason I haven't said my name yet, is because I don't think it's pertinent at this stage of the game. Should that change, I will gladly introduce myself.
