Drip coffee is the best coffee. 1 cream, one sugar.

call me a phillestine, but at this point in my coffe-drinking career (4 months) i can't make out the differences between one cup of coffee from another (except, strangley enough, for starbucks. it ALWAYS tastes like especially bitter mud) tims, french press (i don't think i've even had a cup from one so maybe it'll be like a little miracle?), drip, diner ect ect... it all tastes the same, maybe a little different if i stop and think

i used to put sugar and a little milk in mine, then i stopped adding milk because it was cheaper, and lately i havent even added sugar, because i can't taste the difference. until recently i never put a cup near my mouth unless it'd become the thickness of a milkshake due to oversugaring. i've taken after my moms philosphy of only drinking black light roast 3 times a day to sustain a no-sleep lifestyle.

i LOVE mochas. Wendel's in fort langley makes the best mocha ever.

I like coffee, but I never make it when I'm home. It is a part of my Tuesday ritual (we've all got our things). Every Tuesday after school I'll bus downtown, check out Legends/Curious, get some food somewhere, and get a coffee and hang out for about an hour with my netbook before I go to improv. It's nice to sit with a warm drink and just have some time where I don't have to worry about school (though I usually end up doing a bit).
Are you afraid of milk?
Should I hide the milk?

This will come with time. Coffee is one of those things where there is just so damn much of the stuff out there, and globalization/saturation of the market is such that the vast majority is simply mediocre or downright awful.

What you're tasting with Starbucks is that they burnt the everliving shit out of their beans. The coffee has a much more acrid taste, and so you can really get the coffee experience even when mixed with something else (milk/chocolate/caramel/whatever). However if you like just straight drip (or Americano's) then it tastes like shit.
i used to put sugar and a little milk in mine, then i stopped adding milk because it was cheaper, and lately i havent even added sugar, because i can't taste the difference. until recently i never put a cup near my mouth unless it'd become the thickness of a milkshake due to oversugaring. i've taken after my moms philosphy of only drinking black light roast 3 times a day to sustain a no-sleep lifestyle.

That's pretty normal, actually. It's this weird biological thing where you actually are able to taste subtle differences in bitter flavors the older you get, so the older you get the more you like bitter stuff/less you like sweet. That's obviously a generalization, and I'm sure there are people out there who are in the 80's with hellacious sweet tooths who like coffee, but generally it's true. I used to pour half a pound of sugar and a huge amount of soy into my coffee every morning. Now I drink dark roast black. It comes with the territory.

Next time you're in town, give me a heads up. I'll take you to some of my favorite coffee places.

Not gonna lie, I'm not quite sure what an aztech mocha is. Sorry! Give me a description and I'll find out.

OH okay, yeah, we just called that a Mexican hot chocolate where I'm from. Mainly because everyone I knew who drank that was Mexican. Well, no where in town does that, but I have some Chocolate Mayordomo, which is this kickass hot chocolate from Mexico. I put cayenne in it all the time, and it rules. I'll just make you some when you come into town.

i can get behind this thread.

I started drinking coffee around grade 4/5 so 9/10 years of age. At that time it was like a coffee every other weekend. Sugar + Cream. Drip.
By the time of highschool. Multiple cups of coffee a day. Drip. 2 sugars, 2 cream/milk (usually 2%)

University the coffee was horrible at Res. so started to drink less. Cut back my caffeine intake (was getting migraines)

I now own a coffee pot, French Press, and coffee grinder. I only buy whole beans. Quality of that varies. If i have really good beans i get way into french pressing some cups. Or if it is just a regular store bought beans i make a pot to have before or after work.

I drink coffee black, black with sugar. cream + sugar you name it. Today just made a pot of storebought levelground beans. 1 tsp of sugar and some No Sugar Added Vanilla Almond Breeze. It was nice.

When out i really enjoy Cafe Fantastico, Discovery, Street Level, OLD Sounds Like Coffee.
I get Americano. add nothing.

Espresso are nice these days too

I am not a huge fan of some beans. There was this one roast from Fantastico that i just wasn't into... i need to remember which one it was! It had this slight fruity tart to it that i just didn't enjoy in the aftertaste.

i drink coffee every morning. right now i'm utilizing a drip maker, but usually i'm all about the french press.

i don't mind tim ho's at all. during the summer i probably had a cup from there at least 3 times a week. starbucks always weirds me out so i think i've only ever had like 4 cups from there. there's a pretty decent coffee shop nearby called grinder, i should check that out.

i had an espresso maker for awhile. making your own americanos is where it's at!!!

I love coffee

I like starbucks coffee - for the longest time i have been informed that it contains 2-3 times the ammount of caffeine - thats what i chalked that "funny" taste up to, but austins explanation also makes sense.

I used to like Tim ho's but now i generally get the steeped tea there as the XL double doubles there just taste...off

I cant stand the bitterness of coffee so i generally add at least 2 helpings of sugar, on large cups sometimes 3 - and also i prefer having some form of cream, im not picky, milk will do, cream, half and half etc...

the best places that arent diners I have found are Bean around the World, fantastico, 2% jazz and Habit

i really enjoy americano's, but generally i only like them iced and with cream and sugar.

i do however like SOME drinks from starbucks, like the latte's & also their caramel apple spice is incredible, and in the summer if you want the calorie equivalent to 3 meals, their iced Frappucinos are pretty damn delectible, but also, $5 for a drink ill consume in 10 minutes seems steep.

I refuse to pay for refills on my coffee at restuarants, this is bullshit politics - even if im only having coffee [which i never am, theres always some kind of snack] but one time at ALZUS i had a full meal, and 4 cups of coffee and they billed me 1.25 x4 for coffee. I was shocked, and when i went to settle up, i refused to pay the extra 3.75 and left no tip and walked out, i think ive been back [very much against my better judgement] 2 or 3 times.

truck stop coffee in my experience is ALWAYS the best, its just amazing. proprieters know that truckers love their coffee and it better be good!

i fuckin love coffee.

also, for most of my life i refused to buy mcdonalds coffee because i had it once and it was atrocious. when they had their big promotion going where they gave away a free coffee for a month, i got hooked - it's actually really, really, realllly good! i start my day with a large 2 & 2 and it gets me through the majority of it without crashing, or feeling the need for more - best 1.78 i spend each day

QFT. As a professional restaurant worker, and someone who's been working specifically in breakfast places for ages, I can't help but marvel at people who pay for coffee refills. At my place we charge a fair bit for that initial cup ($2.25), but it's organic, fair trade, and bottomless, so totally worth it. A pot of coffee costs, at most, $1.50 to brew. AT MOST. Most are in the area of $.75 a pot. SO, basically, you break even on the pot if one person buys a cup. At Cabin 12 we generally don't brew a pot of decaf until asked for it. Sometimes that doesn't happen until twenty minutes till close. I still do it, and that person gets as many refills as they need. Why? BECAUSE THATS OUR FUCKING JOBS. Fuck. I'm still flabbergasted at Alzu's. Like there's another reason to eat there?

I'm craving some coffee right now... There's a place that's right near Logan's that rules, but I can't remember the name of it... Jodi and I have gotten lattes before and I think they might be the best lattes I've ever had.

Cafe Fantastico is rad. Can't complain with a good medium coffee for under 2$ (usually go there well I am waiting for my bus to camosun).

Don't get the hype around Habit's coffee but those vegan brownies are good enough to keep me coming back.
