Girl seems to care too much of what people think about her in hardcore. Who cares if you're of "Da Boyzz" or some "punk rock" girlfriend??. If you truly think you're stance in a scene needs to be validated by what some people think of you go back to high school. But of course any argument against her would prob be replied with "you're just another meathead dude". But of course she doesn't know me or the other people she steroe types. She doesn't know I never really have fit in much with hardcore (I loooove pop-punk and folk much more) and how much violenece against women I have seen in my life and how absolutly disgusting I think it is.


Also for people who are "turned off" from moshing just stand to the side. That's what I do if I don't want to get crazy. It just seems stupid to argue by saying but then I can't see the band personally. Why the fuck would that matter if you want to be personal with the band FUCKINg TALK TO THEM shocking I know(I'm one of the most shy/meek people in the world so it may be weird me saying it).


Her argument is also illogical in the sense that when I went to Blink-182 I saw for more almost fights taking place b/c people didn't want their "experince ruined" by moshers etc. Just completely stupid moshing happens no one says you have to do it who gives a shit if you're cool or whatever.

Her article could have been more aptly named "The Fuck Trash Talk Manifesto." She's making tons of blanket statements based on a few douchebags and giving rise to the same old stale argument; yes, misogyny is a problem in hardcore just as it is in everything else, and we all have to address this problem and work towards solving it, but I still prefer somewhat sexist hardcore to somewhat sexist everything else, and, as Hunter mentioned, there would have been no macho clowns moshing girls at a Punch show. If she was to take a step back and look at the big picture, she'd see that a lot of the hardcore scene is forward-thinking and stands against misogyny, even though many of its members mosh and rock Nikes.

Which reminds me, I'm getting flashbacks of the anarcho dorks who would whine at hardcore kids for wearing Nikes; sorry that they're not Vans, a much more "punk" sweatshop-made brand name sneaker. And sorry that I don't go for evening jogs in Birkenstocks. Not that I really care what people think of what I wear, since I have an ounce of self respect.

Anyways, she has good points about douchey hardcore kids, but to write off hardcore shows in general is fucking stupid. If you don't like hardcore shows, then hardcore shows don't like you.

but seriously though, I'd say for every 1 douchy macho asshole i've met since I have have been involved with hardcore, I have met like 15 rad dudes. I can honestly say that those numbers are significantly better than other than any other faction of society that I have been exposed to.

Everyone has made some fantastic points. I'm not going to reply to the OP, because Chad/Pauly/Warren/Darren/Johnny/everyone else has been on point. A few things.

First, Kyle: Pauly didn't get his panties in a bunch, he asked a legit question. You posted an inflammatory blog post on a message board, and someone had the audacity to ask what it had to do with them? GET THE FUCK OUT. What the hell were you expecting to have happen? That girl is, essentially, talking about us in a blanket, generalized way and is feeding the arguments of people who didn't like the hardcore community to begin with. You're reaction to Pauly was WAY over the top and seems to imply that you thought that we would agree with you. Come on man, use your fucking head. You make an inflammatory comment, people are gonna get pissed.

Second: I like Trash Talk, with the exception of their new stuff. Fight me.

Third: Jordan, you're thinking of Downcast, and they only made people sit down once that I know of. I've got their LP if you wanna hear it. It's...okay. Kinda nu-metal before nu-metal existed.

But he even said it wasn't him who wrote it, he just said he agreed with parts of it. Kyle wasn't saying those things in that blog post, some other person was, and he just said "I agree with parts of this, this would be interesting to discuss", or at least that was his intention. In that case, there's really no reason for anyone to call him out going "You're frontin' on my scene, bro!"

I don't see how this is a inflammatory post? I guess it's too much of a stretch to ask people to look at someone's point of view and critique it. I guess it's easier to, as darcy said, react in a knee-jerk fashion. Yes, she said some things that people might be offended by, but obviously they were blanket statements, and if you take offense to them you're not getting the point. Also, I feel this reply to me is WAAAAY more over the top then me saying 'don't get your panties in a knot' to Pauly. If this was someone's post about how much hardcore ruled, would people be so reactionary to it? Also, "you thought that we would agree with you?" What does that even mean? I didn't ask anyone to agree and I didn't say anything for people to agree with ME. Also, maybe I should clear this up by saying "The Fuck Hardcore Shows Manifesto" was her title. Maybe that's why people think I am on her side?

On a separate note, I have seen dudes that fit this description at every hardcore fest I've been to and they're always from out of town. However, I never thought VIHC was like this. I like you guys.

I just failed to see the relevance of the Original Posters complaints in relation to VIHC and simply asked you [Kyle] for some examples of this from your own experiences in the scene HERE, and how you felt you could relate to them...

i suppose people can become alienated from a scene based on a generalized perception.
