Sorry Kay, I'm with Zach on this one. That shirt still rules.

I have about 50 band t shirts lying in a pile at the back of my closet that i will never touch until i move out and then put them in a box to never see again until i'm 40 and find them more hilarious than i do now.

that said, i do wear two band shirts because I still like them and both I got for free. I don't think I'd ever buy a band shirt again. I like my grave life one because it has a print of terry fox being ripped out of his grave by a pterodactyl. i think it's funny and only one person has ever commented on it, which surprises me. also, the black wiz tye dye shirt is fun.

I have a lot of trouble respecting a religion that has messages like this, no matter what sort of "cool modern hip with the kids accepting" take on it tries to "interpret" shit like this differently:

1 Timothy
2:9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with braided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;
2:10 But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.
2:11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.
2:12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.
2:13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve.
2:14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.
2:15 Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.

CAN OF WORMS! calling muslims terrorists is based on stupid people stereotyping from what they see on TV. rarely does their source literature get brought up.

read the qur'an, or almost any other religious book for that matter, and you'll find a lot of the same shit.

I've got a pretty simple Saint Alvia Cartel shirt which I think is pretty rockin'. It's just black with the logo on the bottom-left side.

Not to derail the thread or anything, but isn't that kind of similar reasoning to when right wingers and racists go on about how it's up to moderate Muslims to prove they aren't all terrorists? From my own experience (and I say this as a very staunch atheist) there are a lot of reasonable Christians working to change this, but because they aren't running around picketing funerals, slurring identifiable groups in the media, and generally carrying on like assholes they don't get noticed. I don't know if they're a quiet majority or simply the minority of Christians, but I also don't think it's safe to apply single personality traits and political views to broad groups of people. I would agree however, that the right wing evangelicals who promote this kind of nonsense have dangerous amount of power. Either way though, that shirt rules.
I can see your point! One of my favorite coworkers this summer was very, very Christian. We started talking when she noticed my Think Don't Pray patch. I don't want to apply any personality traits or political views on all Christians, but I do understand why queers and allies might feel hostile toward Christianity in general.

My first off topic argument on vihc!

I had a conversation similar to this with a customer at work about hipsters. I said the word itself had no meaning, but was predicated on which specific person you were talking about. There were "hipsters" and there are "hipsters". In one case you're simply making an observation: they dress the part, go to the right art shows, are studying art and linguistics, and only drink red wine or pbr. They're nice people, and you enjoy going to their parties because you always get into a conversation about Jean Paul Sartre with someone who's actually read his work. Then there's the pejorative sense of the word: use the right tone of voice and you're labeling them a coke-snorting, date raping, nasty mustache havin', devoid-of-a-soul douchebag. The thing is, they'd be douchebags if they dressed any way, or listened to any kind of music. They're just douchebags.

Replace the word "hipster" with "Christian" and you've pretty much got my take on this conversation.

Actually, replace "hipster" with any identifiable group and you've got pretty much got my take on humanity as a whole.

I tend to judge people by their actions, and not whatever ancient books they like to read. Some people read the bible and decide to be nice people and do nice things. Some people read it and decide to be assholes and make other people miserable. But as long as their doing nice things and not hurting anybody Mein Kempf could be their holy book for all I care. You don't have to respect the text, or even people who follow it, but at least recognize and appreciate that there are a lot of people who don't agree with it 100% or take any of it literally but still identify as christian. The episcopalian and anglican churches have ordained openly gay bishops, and in many sects of christianity women pastors are a complete non issue. One of my best friends growing up was a very devout young earth creationist and he was one of the people who started my high schools Gay Straight Alliance and went on to minor in women's studies at university. I don't understand why somebody would read the bible or whatever and choose to identify with it despite having numerous philosophical objections to it, but it's none of my business in the first place. I also think there's an argument to be made that a large portion of the history of the church is taking the bible and reinterpreting it with cool and hip modern takes. Shit like the passage you quoted has been reinterpreted so many times since Constantine founded the catholic church that's almost impossible to keep up with.

tl;dr: I don't care what books you read or how you identify as long your nice and don't hurt anybody.

I also know some homophobes who will blow me under the right conditions. Still don't like homophobes on the whole.

I am on my second copy of this shirt. I traded my Suffocation - Pierced from Within longsleeve to this girl I was in love with when we broke up. Wore the Deicide legion shirt until it basically disintegrated off my body. Incidently I also listened to this Deicide tape until I fucking wore it out. Deathmetal or die.

when i was in grade six i had a pretty cool green day canadian tour shirt. it had the cover of nimrod, but it was in a canadian flag. loll. i wish i could find that.

my favourite shirt is most likely the red think i care shirt from world asylum with the skeleton dude holding chains. i have one, but it's too small. i almost won the right sized one on ebay not so long ago but the bidding got kinda out of hand.

also the classic black on black he-goat cursed shirt. i was so stoked when those bootlegs were floating around a couple years ago because my original one was way too small.
