does anyone have a van or minivan / is free this weekend?

We (Watcher) are playing this Ghost Throats fest thing and found out that renting a minivan is very expensive. We'll do it if we have to but um... if anyone has a van or minivan and wants to take a load of people, we'll all split the gas cost and you get a fun weekend to Edmonton. We might be able to pay you a bit too.

I think there's 6-7 of us (Watcher + Becky + Keith + maybe Richard's gf). We're leaving on Friday and aiming to catch the 7:00pm ferry, then drive in shifts (two of us have full licenses) to Edmonton, with possible nap breaks.

Don't scold me. We always planned on renting, this was figured out, we're just seeing if there's an alternate/cheaper route than splitting the cost of a minivan. I originally planned on renting a car and a minivan is a bit pricier, so borrowing a van or hanging with someone with a van would negate that and allow Keith and this Laura girl to come with us. But we'll rent a minivan if nobody steps up. "It never hurts to ask."

I wasn't scolding, I was telling you an objective truth. Most minivans are booked weeks in advance. I'm not saying it's impossible to get one for this weekend, I'm saying you need to get it NOW. It also generally requires a credit card, and about a $250 (or in that ballpark) deposit.

Okay, so I just checked the Budget downtown, and their minivans are all booked solid for the weekend. Also, remembered this while talking to her, but whoever rents the van has to be over 25. That's important. I'm gonna check Enterprise and a couple of others, but this isn't looking good guys. Sorry, I've been here and it sucks.

also I just made an online reservation... at enterprise... and it seems to have worked? you called them and they said "no minivans are available this weekend"?

probably not using enterprise due to their age rules. but that's weird that a reservation worked.

When I called them they said they had nothing but would "put me on a list" for the next available. I'm betting the online reservation system just automatically puts you on that wait list.
