this is longish and he kind of rambles and looks like the
cyclops in Ulysses (which is actually pretty awesome)
but he makes some valid points.
and i just saw Willa post about how dumbstep makes no sense to him so i'm just going to leave this here:

I am amazed I listened to the whole thing... He made pretty good points but I think I'm mostly impressed with his dubstep impression.

Got 5 minutes in and it's pretty stupid. Yeah dubstep or whatever sucks, you think Katy Perry sucks what else is new.

angst! oh shit. doesn't invalidate that the respect for instrumental genius has diminished. artists nowadays rely on technology to shape and perfect their sound. i'll just sit over here and listen to some comeback kid
that being said, hardcore in - in many communities - has grown and realized their potential and skill. the alberta scene is no doubt the best in this country. it almost always has been, but recently it has birthed some of the most talented musicians.
yes, the video rant points out many thoughts we've all been thinking. sorry that i thought some of you might find humor and truth in his points.

interesting
I take it, then, that you've been everywhere throughout the country, and "always [have] been", to make such a....well.....possibly contentious claim, then?

i think the moral of last night is that i shouldn't post drunk because i just come across as a presumptuous smart ass.
but! i am familiar with the bc's, yukon's, and alberta's communities. MAN if deadmonton circa 2006 had the talented little fucks it does today it'd be dope as hell.
that being said, FUCK YES HIGH JINKS IS BACK.
Re: this is longish and he kind of rambles and looks like the
It does. The HiJinx kids are in new bands and "deadmonton" has one of the best hardcore scenes going. There's a ridiculous amount of good bands there.ghostthroats wrote:MAN if deadmonton circa 2006 had the talented little fucks it does today it'd be dope as hell.

In terms of a self sufficient hc scene with the amount of good bands, good venues, good promoters there is in AB I agree with her. And what parts of the canuk hc scene I havn't seen I've got friends from those places who also feel the same about AB.dougmacminn wrote:hmghostthroats wrote: the alberta scene is no doubt the best in this country.

Thing is, they get little touring bands or live outside influence so they need to stand on their own. It encourages support for local bands. So in terms of local scene they are on point, much like Vic. Only thing is Vic's scene is smaller.
